Just started crocheting and I have loved this tutorial. You go at the perfect pace for beginners and I’m grateful that I found your channel! The only reason I started crocheting is because my toddler has become obsessed with the little Einsteins and I wanted to make a rocket for him but I found absolutely no tutorials to follow along with only written instructions and that attempt was a disaster 😂 your video was the next thing I decided to try and I have learned SO MUCH! Ps if you ever decide to do a pat pat rocket tutorial tag me please! ❤

And I'll definitely let you know if I make a rocket in the future.🥰😘🧶

I just love love love this!!!! I’ve made 15 of them now I’m getting ready for a craft show. Everyone already wants one lol. In your very well detailed video you asked to know about us that watch your video, well I’m Maggie I live in Pa and my Mom taught me to crochet at age 7, but only how to ch and sc. About 20yrs ago I picked up crochet hooks and taught myself to make everything and anything I could crochet and I just taught my older sister how to crochet. We love crocheting. I’m disabled due to injury to neck and back so I’m home 24/7 so I needed something to occupy my mind and crocheting does that. I really wish I could share my picture of my favorite one I made I changed the eyes to form the face and I stuffed the snout very lightly. I always change a pattern, but I love it just the way you made it. If you tell me how to share photo I will. Again thank you so much for the video and the pattern.

This is by far the cutest little cow I've seen! A challenge for me, because I have big fat fingers and the small stitches from round to round especially for the Bell. But I made it through 😬 do you have a video for how to do a larger size highland cow?
@YarnSociety3 жыл бұрын
Awe, thank you!!!! The fat fingers comment cracked me up, I'm sure you don't!! I don't have a video for a bigger guy, but you could use a bulky yarn (for example: color made easy by lion brand) and a bigger hook. He'll naturally come out bigger and you can use the same pattern:) Let me know if you do:) Hugs!! xo

Lovely pattern, I did make a few modifications, I was ask to make two highland cows that my friend owns irl. So I made the horns longer since one has straight horns and the other a little twist. I used worsted weight for the bells and embroidered the first letter of their names it didn't look too big. Finally I use a straight comb and a wore brush to tease the hairs so it looked like real fur. That you so much for making this pattern publicly available!

I've always knotted my yarn and floss at the end. So, I want the same horns but longer. Do I just follow the pattern just doing more rounds of sc?
@YarnSociety4 ай бұрын
Yes! You can add another sc round, but you may have to throw an increase in if you make more than one more round. So R7 could be sc around and then R8 could be increase, then sc in next how many stitches you have left. Continue like that till you're happy with the length. I hope that helps, let me know if you have any more questions! hugs🥰❤🧶

I started Oct 2022 with making beanies for kids with cancer. I saw some friends making blankets and amagarumi and I wanted to learn. How would i go about making this highland cow but a lot smaller? Say 2.5-3inches tall? What size hook and yarn would i use and what would the stitches be? Would i just halve the stitches?
@YarnSociety2 ай бұрын
You could make it smaller by using the same pattern but choosing a thinner yarn (say like a sock or sport weight yarn - weight 1or 2) and a smaller hook (1.25-2.25mm hook) with the same pattern. Since I haven't tried it myself, I'm not sure exactly which yarn and hook size would make it the size you want - but you could always experiment and do the body first to see if the sizing looks good to you! Let me know how it goes! Hilde but smaller would be soooo cute!! HUGS!🧶🧶🧶

On the head on round 4 I keep ending up with my stitch marker one stitch ahead! It's driving me nuts. I've unraveled the whole thing multiple times and I keep ending up with one stitch left undone in the round. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong!
@YarnSociety10 ай бұрын
That is frustrating! Do you mark the first stitch of the round when you crochet? I mark the last stitch so that I always work into it. The only thing I can think of is if you mark the first stitch of the round then the stitch marker would be one stitch ahead. Does the amount of stitches come up short as well? Sorry if I'm confusing you more, I wish we could sit next to each other, would be so much easier to troubleshoot! 😂

Omg, I started crocheting in 1975 in 4-H. What an ugly granny square tank sweater I made a year later with a red heart, green variegated yarn that I still see sometimes.....the pic my parents took when we modeled our garment was pure horror. I was wearing a white turtleneck under the sweater and white bell bottom polyester slacks!!!!😮🤮🫣 My how the world of crochet has changed. Thank goodness!!!!! I normally make afghans, winter wear, doily or lacey items, especially with the great stitches. Who needs knitting?? But I have never tried this. I have looked through books, magazines, and KZbin channels. You really have a clean and consistent look at what you make. I love Highland cows, so this will be the 1st thing I make. I really like your crochet compared to others. We are moving to TX....so my yarn and tools are all packed, but someday, I would love to have a couple of these adorable cows. In the meantime, I will make one once we get moved and un packed. Thanks for sharing your talents ❤

Ahhhh I love that you made the sweater in variegated green with a red heart, I bet it was a beauty!!! And that you have a picture of it is priceless!!! Thank you for your kind words, I feel like I talk t0o much, count t0o much, and babble on... so this means so much to me! 🫣 I just got my yarn out of box jail so I hope you can get yours out soon! You have a smooth move and let me know when you get a chance to make this little guy!
