Thank you soooo much for this!! Trying to thread 6 strings of floss through the eye of a needle is a frustrating experience--particularly for complete beginners like myself!! You just saved me so much time and frustration!!!

Genius. And so simple! I just bought my first embroidery pack and am threading the needle by hand. I didn't even know that there are special needle threader tools! So, threading six strands takes FOREVER! I will buy the tool, but until then threading three at a time will be so much faster! Thank you.

Wow! Thank you so much for this info. I have been struggling all morning to thread my needle with six strands. Your idea worked perfectly for me. Bravo!

This also eliminates the worry of the floss slipping out of the needle eye. Wow.

Is breaking the floss up into 6 separate strands necessary, or can I just use the floss as normal?
@CutesyCrafts4 жыл бұрын
You can just use it as normal. Some people like to separate it to give it a fuller look. I never do.

Hmm. I'm imagining a very long trail of thread, depending on how much area you planned on embroidering. Having said that, this sure is a nifty way of manipulating a full 6 strands, if that is the desired intensity of sewing!

Didn't know that I've been doing it all wrong. When a pattern calls for 6 strands of floss, I'd take literally 6 strands and spend 10 minutes push them through the needle. Thanks for sharing. Is double threading the convention in embroidery? I mean, when a pattern calls for 2 strands -> take 1 strand, 4 strands -> take 2 etc?

You haven't been doing it wrong, this is just a way to make it easier for 6 strands. I would only do this if threading 6 strands is a struggle. It makes it so you can't easily get the needle off the thread when it tangles, so it's a bit of a trade off. Definitely not the convention in embroidery, but it makes it more accessible to some people.

Do you know how to take One thread with 6 strands and dismantle them? I'm having some trouble with that
