Hello!! Thank you for the time to teach us... I've been wanting to learn since 2010 I finally getting to learn with your videos thank you so much.... how do I know when to split the thread and the No. Of the need to use...I'm so sorry for this question... but you can see how green I am to embroidery 😅
@CutesyCrafts Жыл бұрын
You can use whatever amount of thread you want. I usually use 2, 3, or 6 depending on how thick I want the line to be. If you are doing a filling stitch, the fill will look smoother if you use less thread and more textured if you use more. For needle sizes a smaller number equals a bigger needle. The following embroidery needle sizes are recommended: one strand=size 10 needle, two strands=size 9 needle, three strands=size 8 needle, 6 strands=size 3 needle. This beginner video I made might help you: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hp-xpq2diNWfl6csi=EAl-e2sdPSVv1-as

The satin stitch is the one stitch I continue to struggle with, but breaking it into small grids just might be the ticket to success. I am definitely going to try this. One of the problems I find is that the back of my work, especially the satin stitch, is not always as clean as I think it could be. Any suggestions as far as covering the back if I am giving the finished piece as a gift? I like to hand embroider tea towels. Thank you.
@CutesyCrafts3 жыл бұрын
If you are leaving it in the hoop, this is my favorite way to finish the back: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJPFgouvnrF_aq8. If you are making a tea towel, you want to use no knot methods that I show here and the back will just look nicer: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h4W9i2uopb6WnJo. I have a video of my specifically working on napkins here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqScnn-ef56nl9U. If you want a backing for a piece of clothing, I have a blog post about some options here: cutesycrafts.com/2020/07/the-best-backing-for-embroidery.html

Thank you! I needed to do a needle work homework 😂 And I was trying to save time by using satin stitch, but I was struggling! Thank you so much!! Also, one more question. I see that the tread’s thickness is not very thin, is it a double thread or something?
@CutesyCrafts Жыл бұрын
I'm using 6 strand embroidery floss which is one big strand made of 6 smaller strands. You can separate them out to make thinner lines. I'm using all 6 strands here so it's easier to see, but usually I like to use 2 or 3 strands for a smoother satin stitch.

I always run the needle through the threads on the backside and the cut the thread from the needle close to the stitching
@jonaslove19884 жыл бұрын
It's been a year but i figured id respond anyway. On the back side, run the needle through one of your stitches. As you pull, a little loop will trail behind the needle. Run the needle through that loop then pull until it's just a knot. Cut the thread from there :)

I don’t understand how come you left the outside ones for last, wouldn’t that waste thread going all the way over the other side at the end? Is there a reason for this?
@jephninety54344 жыл бұрын
I'm curious about how much thread is wasted behind the surface of the piece worked. Is it possible to take a stitch from top down, then move laterally and stitch from bottom up?
@CutesyCrafts4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you can probably do that. I just know when I'm filling in a shape like a flower petal, it helps me to have the stitches all coming from the same side. I don't know why, but it helps me keep them more even.
@tsts4414 жыл бұрын
I did the satin stitch for a large space however after removing the hoop the threads became super loose. should I shorten the spaces or ie there another way to fix it?
@CutesyCrafts4 жыл бұрын
Yes, satin stitch can become problematic if they get too long. When filling a large space, I recommend the long and short stitch instead.

Why do we need to draw the column if we can stitch from one point to other? Just one rectangle box should be fine right? And can't we start from any point rather than marking?
@CutesyCrafts6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you don't have to. I like to do it more on irregular shapes like flower petals so it splits up the area, and I remember which angle to stitch. Just a preference.
