I’m glad they ACTUALLY focused on Hu Tao’s character. I always knew she had a lot to her then it seemed, but it was only really found in her story profile, so i’m rly happy they showed that side. Hoping this get’s people to realise she isn’t just a silly goofy goober It was unexpected for them to give Lantern Rite a plot rather then just being a festival, but I really enjoyed the quest so. What an incredible quest that was. Felt like an archon quest or second Hu Tao's story quest. Hu Tao had her family lore expansion. And then the feelings you start to catch when she goes around cheerfully giving gold coins to her friends, which was actually her saying goodbye. Then this cutscene and 2 following ones hit even harder. Also the details of afterlife scene, with levitating scrolls and spider lilies appearing as Hu Tao walk, just beautiful. That quest was too good to be temporary. So the only downside of this quest is inaccessibility for future players to experience it first hand.

I like to think that Zhongli looking nervous during this cut scene wasn't at whether Hutao would succeed in the purification or not, (Given how well he knows her, he probably knows she will pull it off) but rather whether the MC would make it there in time to save her life or not. Given he also knows the ritual, and seeing the dwindling flames, means her initial attempt with the ratan dolls failed, and she would have to resort to self-sacrifice. And him closing his eyes was just him tracking the coin he gave us to check on our progress and whether we would make it. With his look of relief due to the fact that he saw that we most likely will.

Still better than her little performance later, since there was actually music to it, dramatic music. I do have a hard time hearing the "music" in the singing though.

I've thought she was a fantastic character since I started playing and made it to Liyue. Not that I've been playing for much more than a year - but she's always been an intriguing one. Adorable too. Also her fighting style / elemental skill is just badass. I was hooked from the moment I was going out to do uh.. what did she call it... community or business outreach for her "business" .... that being a funeral parlor. Had me chuckling when people repeatedly threatened to call the guards etc. She's such a creep - but she's the best kind of creep. She isn't doing it pointlessly either. This was a fantastic event, and I hope we can replay it.

The story really got me in tears. The build up of her giving her goodbyes to everyone was so emotional. I was just hoping that my guts feeling is right, that she'll be back. I was so damn happy when I saw Paimon looking for me in the crowd and I wasn't there. At that point I felt reliefed, knowing what's to come and that she will be alright. She joined my party on day one of her release, instantly became my favorite, she's my most played character to this day, and that will stay the same until the end of days. This quest just amplified that.

genuinely this was the first cutscene in genshin i cried during. as chn diaspora i grew up listening to chinese opera from my grandparents. i listened to so many growing up. playing genshin, i was pleasantly surprised to see yunjin representing this part of my culture. i thought divine damsel was okay, but that was based on my personal preference. it was objectively a good song and i was still so happy to hear it in game. i think what i'm really trying to say is that this specific yunjin song reminded me so much of the chinese opera videos my grandparents watched when i was growing up which is why it made me so, so happy to hear it. on a side note, does anyone know when the next genshin album will be released and if this song will be included?

Man, I must say that they've written this whole event masterfully... and absolutely gut-wrenching. You approached the whole Hu Tao story from afar and then you slowly realize the truth: - first we get the mythology background of the whole "Santification of Tao Dou" ritual, with the hermits and sage, telling us that one of them (Lone Butterfly) had to sacrifice (and guess what's Hut Tao's symbol?) - then Hu Tao tells us her family story, how her father was a "bad" director for leaving too much stuff behind - slowly everything falls into the right place and you begin to understand what she really means to do: - the fortune coins she gives to all her friends (she delegates for those who are not present saying she can't give them in person) - her beggin Yun Jin to sing her Hilitune - and last but not least the plum branch from her hat to the Traveller, who, along with Paimon, is utterly oblivious and thinks she will get back, and have a meal with Xianling, and listen to Yun Jin opera and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh I'm crying right now. That for me is character growth to its finest, Hu Tao knows full well she likely not gonna make it, so she makes the most of it before her demise... BUT THEN GIGACHAD TRAVELLER SAVES HER BECAUSE HE IS THE GOAT. ABSOLUTE PEAK! Seriosly tho, Hu Tao went to the top for me with this... 2nd story quest, gg to all and happy Lantern Rite!

To be honest, the only downside of this lantern rite story is the fact that traveller's grand hero entrance is unnecessary. It would be much more impactful and interesting if Hu Tao alone could surpass this. We could be supporting her on the sides like Lan Yan and Ningguang did. Hoyoverse could just say she cannot pass to afterlife due to her worldly connections she gave (fortune coins, promises, branch etc.) and these connections are expecting her safe return to the mortal realm. I'm just tired of this hero trope we have to do when characters are obviously can stand on their own. Anyways, I'm glad Hu Tao made it. Happy Lantern Rite!

@@sadjagaimo6090 ​surpass what? you prolly skipped too many dialogues. the moment they decided to go with that plan, its GUARANTEED that one person (who will be in charge of the gate of death) WILL DIE because of the amount of Fetor they have to take/absorb. even if they split the burden to each participants of the plan, NOTHING can prevent Hu Tao, or any human, dying due to the amount of fetor gathered in the gate of death. that's how dangerous the plan is. Hu Tao said that there wont be any sacrifices but its obvious that she lied and she knew that she gonna die from the very beginning. Hu Tao did stand on her own, she played the biggest part of this whole plan. She absorbed all of those fetor and saved Liyue. She's fully prepared to die after that. Liyue's problem already solved at that point. Then traveler came and absorbed the fetor from Hu Tao because they're the only one who can do that with their unique constitution (can't be affected by leylines, can absorb filth, etc). It makes more sense than letting Hu Tao "magically" survive because of random reasons

If they actually followed through with her death in this event story, the consequences would be that there won't be any presence of Hu Tao in any new quests anymore. They can definitely just leave it at that I think Hu Tao is only present in her Story quest and Baizhu's, which is already a requirement for this event story, correct me if you see her present outside those two story quests New players won't know that she canonically already dead, or at least won't get her death scene so it won't break their immersion. But for players who played this event, it would break the immersion because if we see her in a new content because well... she's dead

The only reason she is most prominently appearing here is generally because she has literally no use in any story/event as she is the most minor character in lore related ones. You can say this with about almost 70-80% of the characters in the game. Heck even 4 stars like chongyun, xinyan etc. have zero story quest related stuff. They can make a lantern rite without hu tao, they just treat her as a mascot for lantern rite at this point. Hot take but her dying in this event or another wouldn't impact anything.

I'll likely stick with the Chinese VAs until Hoyo gets all the English VAs sorted out. Since I heard the contract with the studio ended at the beginning of this year, now it's just a waiting game as they move everyone. So I'm hoping most of the English voices will be back by 5.4 or 5.5.

But that doesn't mean Natlan was bad or even less good than this lantern rite. If you just met all these characters for the first time, you'd probably feel the same way as you probably do about natlan.

I think, this Lantern Rite has the best plot. I really enjoyed latest Lantern Rite. Ga Ming was portrayed very well and I was touched by his story and relationship with his family. Whats sad is this story would be more impactful if it wasn't an event. Cause you know damn well they'll never kill off a character in an event. Closest they could have gotten was the Chasm story that was released over time like an event but was a main story quest. You can say "oh look they're dying"...but its a Lantern Rite event so if you know how the story works you know is not going to be permanent cause they wont let these stories be permanently in the game for newer players. Basically there's no stakes when they pull this in an event

as a hu tao enjoyer since day one you cannot begin to imagine how excited and happy i was that they made this years lantern rite about her. it felt like a second hu tao story quest. and they managed to make it plot relevant by tying it in with the recent events of natlan. i knew nothing was going to happen to her but the scenes were just so emotional man simply absolute cinema.

I understand if you are unable to bring back the English VAs for the time being, but the Chinese VAs deserve some recognition and love as well, especially given that it's the original language of this game and matches the lip syncing perfectly compared to the other languages.

Honestly for Hu Tao’s Chinese Va (same as Kiana) She deserves much more attention. I understand most of people comment in this channel do not speak Chinese. Oh boy, she laterally used completely different tone for describe Hu Tao’s anxiety before last cut scene. It just fit the character so well. The best.
