No it gets even better with Lantern Rite's original lore. In Liyue's ancient times, the people of Liyue would release lanterns into the night sky so that soldiers would always find their way home and would never lose sight of themselves. So if a soldier was lost or wandering the night after a brutal battle, no matter how far away they were, the lanterns would always lead them home. This cutscene is the modern day version of that story. The Qixing decided to use kites as the main theme for the lantern rite, letting the soaring kties share the same symbolism and meaning with the lanterns. On that same festival, Gaming would perform and feel a sense of loss after the performance along with sadness. Then his father comes and shows him the kite(the symbolism of his dream and a lantern for this year). Seeing this kite(lantern), Gaming runs and finally makes it home: his father's arms.

Quick English correction, please don't say "as a Chinese". Instead say "as a Chinese person". "Chinese" 只能拿来当形容词,而不能当名词。 说英文时要注意绝对不能把形容词用成名词,特别那种国民的形容词。 这是最不礼貌的用法,会让人误会。 效果会像再叫 “那个(形容词)家伙”一样。 虽然有些国家形容可以也当成名词来用,比如 “German” 或 “Mexican” 等等, “Chinese” 还有 “Turkish“ 是绝对不行。 最正确及安全的用法是把他们全都当成形容词来用,最好避开 “a (国民形容)” 的用法。 这种错误我常见,希望你不建议我突然这样插进来 ^^;

This event made me both happy and sad. Happy because I remembered my own dad and the happy times. Sad because, in the end, he ended up passing on without me being able to form my own opinion of him and not base it on what everyone else said he was like. I still remember his disappointed voice when we didn't trust him being sober that time and not coming to see him. That day would have been the day when I talked with a full intent of understaning him, but that phone call ended up being our last time talking with each other. Now all I have of him is an image built of my early childhood memories with him and people talking smack about him in constant basis. Not sure what kind of person was the true him. What I'm getting at with this is that one should cherrish bonds. Sometimes you can fix them, and sometimes not, but the important thing is to try and not have too many regrets when its too late. I shed a tear when I saw Gaming hug his dad, even though it was meant to be a wholesome moment. But overall, I was happy seeing them reconcile. Yes, happy. Happy Lantern Rite.

My dad got a stroke and now he forgot quite a lot of stuff. the stroke attacked his memory and language part of the brain. we used to have a lot of disagreement, I even stopped talking to him for a few years, without me realizing the time passed, now he has grown old and suddenly got a stroke. it's feels so weird seeing him all silent now and look so confused. all my hate has now turn it's arrow towards myself and turned into regret.

Haven't finish the 2nd act yet.. Too busy with assignments. Hope I can finish those works and speedrunning the assignment tonight. So I can start watching this cutscene. Edit: Just finished it, and WOW! This is undoubtedly one of the best if not the best Lantern Rite cutscene when it comes to quality and animation work. Like, wow... I got goosebump as well when the drum beat harder.

The raw emotion in nothing but the look that Gaming father gave him. These lantern rites are timelessly special. It's good to see characters like Hu Tao, Zhongli, and Keqing again. They've just been chilling.

This is the first Lantern Rite cutscene that made me cry ;w; I love Gaming so much. I felt so happy seeing him dance on the water like that, and showing his dad what he can do. The music was also phenomenal! Gave me chills! As an Asian, I could relate to Gaming's story a lot and his relationship with his father because of their differing opinions on Gaming's future. I'm happy to see that they have a happy conclusion. Happy Lantern Rite, Genshin Impact.

this year's lantern rite got me feeling emotional 😭 so much thought was put into gaming's character and i'm glad he and his father were the focus of the event story this time around. and i'm especially happy to see gaming's wushou dance beautifully animated!!! this might have been the first for a male chara, and i'm hoping to see more in the future since there are other charas who do/learn performative arts (venti, kaveh, etc.) 🥺

This story probably resonates with many Chinese men (young or old), the story, relationship and problems between Gaming and his father are all to common in Chinese families. Really made me cry a bit. Glad they were able to work things out; if only his mother could have seen it 😢 As a Cantonese person, one line in his background story/lore I really liked was in Gaming's mother's letter to him, she used to say "I'd rather have given birth to a piece ot Char Siu than you..." (paraphrasing, don't have the game open in front of me) 😂 I'm sure many of us grew up hearing our mom say 生舊叉燒好過生你 😂 Gaming is easily one of my favourites now 😊

This lantern rite was just so emotional to play through, it was as if genshin and gaming were retelling my story and all those emotions bottled up in the crevices of my mind just shattered to the relatable storytelling. I don't consider myself a particularly emotional person but this ... this made me tear up I wish i could share this moment with those close to me, to share this memory of seeing someone who I saw myself in overcome his situation and finally bond together in a peaceful harmony. All in all a banger of a event. Happy Lantern Rite everyone
