Cutscenes Revamp Mod Trailer - Sonic Adventure 2 PC

For the last few months I've been working on a mod with End User that patches up SA2 PC's events, which were left in a pretty broken state after the original DC release.
Here are some of the key changes:
- No more darkened models, which was caused by material colors being applied when they shouldn't be, tinting them grey.
- All characters use their DC models, mainly due to differences with vertex colors and eyes (especially Amy).
- Fixed as many layering issues as possible.
- Maria eyelashes
- 16:9 everywhere, including new code to handle video effects.

tbh I was a tad bit dissapointed with one scene and it was the scene I was looking forward too the most. the scene when sonic is in the prison where the bars have individual shadows in the dreamcast version, that wasn't in the game and it was a bit dissapointing but it's understandable if it wasn't possible

You're a life saver. I just recently installed SA2B of Steam, then I remembered about the differences between Dreamcast and Gamecube versions and felt the game was still "incomplete"

I love that you did this, and I can't wait to see what future updates will add. In case you weren't already aware of a lot of this stuff, I guess I'll write them here after having played the entire game with this mod: There are still several instances of sound effect de-sync in cutscenes. Dark Side seemed to have worse sfx de-sync than before. Not sure if this is in your field, but just saying. I don't know if it's just a matter of Japanese voices being much louder than English ones, but the decreased music volume made the BGM way too quiet in most places. Hopefully there's a config option in the future to restore it back to its original volume? I would love a config option for the original camera work in the Hero Side beginning cutscene, as well as the option to use Battle models wherever possible. Keep up the great work! You're doing a big service to SA2.

Yeah, the sound definitely still needs improving. SA2's sound is pretty bad as it is, like it has no volume control for BGM at all. I'd love to go through one day and make a version that forces all the GC models, but that's easier said than done when it's gonna take a lot of new shape animation entries to get their faces right, let alone hands lol. (I'm sure there's enough for Sonic at the very least) There's also the issue of the scenes being stored awkwardly which makes optional content difficult to put together.

Quick Question: Does this mod fix the error in the pre-Egg Golem cutscene (both Hero & Dark side versions) that’s made visible when playing in 16:9, in which Tails’ hand isn’t attached to his arm? Because if not, then that’s certainly something that should be done for a future update to this mod.

I believe there is a mod that ports over the Dreamcast Chao garden maps into battle. Which means you can finally drown tails in the hero's Chao garden again

Fix the shadows on the prison scene (in SA2, there's a scene, in the prision, and in that scene, Amy rescues Sonic, and in Dreamcast, the bars of the prision have, each one. a shadow), the door behind Eggman in the first Dark Story Scene, and it's done. It's just me, or this mod makes the characters more... clean?

Looks like a good decision assuming there's no obvious downgrades like when using the DC models for the Sonic Adventure DX improvement mods. More questions because I'm an absolute pain...Does the 16:9 include the prerendered cutscenes? If so, were cropping and or stretching used? And if so, are they optional?

That is literally just the FMV eggman announces that he'll blow up the world in 24 hours. In fact, somebody modded that FMV to have the eggman pisses on the Moon audio on it.

Nah, the most it touches the voice lines is getting rid of the more notorious overlapping. English lip sync is something I've considered doing separately sometime though. I know how to do it, it'd just take a long time.

Fantastic work on the mod and fixing most of the cut scenes unfortunately there are still two things that appear to not be fixed that I've noticed. During when Eggman shows up for the the first time in the Dark story's very first cut scene there is a door that is supposed to behind Eggman when he first appears but it's still missing. Also the lighting from the jail bars are still missing in the cut scene where Amy is breaking out Sonic. Then there's the obvious one being Big the cat still missing during some cut scenes but that I think might be impossible to ever bring back since that required pressing buttons to get him to show up originally.... At least I'm assuming that's the case here and the mod is working? Because I believe I have the mod enabled and it should be working since Sonic's shoes are the trial version like I selected and Amy had her eyeliner for the cut scenes as well since I selected that and the Sonic Adventure 2 original opening played without a problem etc. This is also the only mod I have installed at the moment so if something is wrong I don't think that's it? If none of this is possible I understand and that's a shame. also I guess for the transparency for the emerald that's the best we are going to get I'm assuming? I looked at Dreamcast version and the emerald is a bit more see through... Sorry not meaning to nitpick in any way and you probably know about all the remaining issues already... I'm just trying to help and give feedback since I'm pretty sure you are trying to aim for an as accurate to the Dreamcast cut scenes as possible as they are far more superior then the ports were. For what it's worth This is still fantastic for what is done and at least getting closer to what should of been in the first place so hope you'll continue to work on this.
