Yeah, it's a shame that Sonic Adventure 2 Battle's cutscenes are such a downgrade from the Dreamcast originals. Thank goodness for the modding community, indeed!

Honestly? There's a part of me that wants to laugh... ...but there's also a part of me that feels bad for Sonic here.

This is really interesting to see. Personally, I didn't really care for even the issues in SADX, so you can imagine how little this will affect me going forward. But it was very neat to see how other people experienced Sonic Adventure 2 differently, albeit minorly.

And you didn't even see what happened with the Spanish subtitles. In DC they worked decently, but in GB, every word that had an accented letter (many Spanish words require it) was distorted. Another thing that bothered me was the way the spoken dialogue was out of sync, which caused two characters to speak at the same time, even when answering questions or reacting to things that other characters hadn't mentioned yet.

Cool thing about console exclusives is that they can really play to the limits of the given hardware, giving you titles that made you go 'wow, it's capable of this!?' Sadly when you port that to a different console on a super limited time budget, you just have to do whatever to make it work before release.

To explain why they changed the quality is because they were trying to make the graphics better for GameCube. But GameCube has limitations on graphics. This means they had to trade a lot to make the game feel next Gen. Sure shadows sucked but that's because your GameCube would sound like a vacuum for 30 seconds before overheating and never turning on again. They had to cut things and add things to add more detail. Because they wanted the GameCube to look good, most games went after that new gen look, like Zelda: Twilight Princess with links detailed hairy wolf body, and floating twilight particles. This seems more like nitpicking with little understanding of games extreme limitations back in the early 2000's, than it does a valid opinion. Because the only honest opinion you can have is simply games weren't as good as they look today. And that's simply because they were working with rudimentary tech that had just started scratching the surface of details in games. They can make high poly models now and stuff, which takes a lot of availability in data to focus on rendering shadows and magic lights. I'm aware it doesn't look good, but that's the best job they could do. They would've made things worse if they tried to add back what they had to edit, because people would be sending reports of failing hardware and returning their game systems because of its major flaw; When the GameCube overheated, it could easily corrupt data. Sometimes even just never turn back on again. I remember it froze on me because I played it all day long on a hot summer day, and it was so broken the only way I could fix it was by corrupting my game data by unplugging the power cord while it was still on and frozen. And let it cool down for an entire day before it turned back on. Even then I needed a new memory card because everything was damaged or corrupted. So yeah. Keep acting like it's bad thing the game didn't look like Dark Souls 1 levels of detail.

Tails = Tikal remembering her Grandmother's poem/prayer about the Chaos Emeralds. Amy = Tikal first meeting Chaos and the Chao. Big = Tikal meeting the Master Emerald. Gamma = Tikal explaining that Chaos is actually a peaceful and well-meaning guardian that just wants to protect the Chao. Knuckles(1) = Tikal begging Pachamak to not use the Chaos Emeralds for self gain. Knuckles(2) = Tikal warning the Master Emerald about Pachamak. Knuckles(3) = The rise of Perfect Chaos. Sonic(1) = The fallout of the Knuckles Clan's actions. Sonic(2) = Why Chaos destroyed the Knuckles Clan and how/why he was sealed away inside the Master Emerald in the first place.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I think I sank about 200hrs into this game which included spending time looking at every possible view of every stage/detail. I always wondered why the ARK computer screens looked so blurry and trash. Original you could actually see!
