I watched a lot of video from Jensen and especially so just before heading out late September. You guys were instrumental in my success. My story - Finally - a totally worthy sojourn into the foothills along ye olde Trunk Road where I did catch fish and did not sit in a patch of stinging nettle. The spouse prodded me to go (since the weather forecast was very good) so I Ioaded up my (modern day version) of a Conestoga Wagon (Dodge Caravan) and off I went! All the way there I could hear the anticipatory whines of my arsenal, led by the two ten foot behemoths - Snow Bee and Moonshine Drifter! They ended up being the only two 'Weapons of Trout Angling' I used. Primary responsibility fell to Snow Bee and it was he who helped me entice a Personal Best cutthroat out of its lair. (Some 15-16 inches long - that's as close as I could get because it refused to lie still so as far as anyone I tell the story to it will now be 18") and a healthy 'ain't missed many meals' girth. I knew it was in there since I saw the snout break surface on a rise. Still, it took some ten passes with several different nymphs before it struck. I likened my offers to that trout as to being in a Marble Slab Creamery and choosing a flavour! So - all in - I caught over thirty Cutthroats on a variety of Dries and Nymphs - and for once about 70% were over 10" - as opposed to my usual 90% under 10". As I may have mentioned I'm only in my fourth year, having come to this sport in my late 60s. Now, this time, at 72 years, I feel I've come into my own and I almost have become a bit more than a neophyte angler. Largely I have preferred to fish solo (to hide my mistakes and style faux pas stuff). But learning what I know must come with a nod of thanks to some noteworthy aficionados. I watch a lot of video and read a lot of books and I talk to some astounding sportsman. I've read every book Jim McLennan has written at least twice. I took Gierach's 'Small Streams' with to read in the evening. For the third time. I watch every video that the Jensen FlyFishing team produces (especially the Cutty ones over the past weeks) and not only for the fishing but also the amazing nature scenery they include. I thank Gary Hanke for being kind about this sport - and for living so close to me. Was never too busy to answer a question Same thing with Don Anderson - although he doesn't live so close to me. Ditto Rick Passek - wherever the heck he's hanging his hat these days! Thanks Ken Valgardson for the hack to keep warm - that worked! Thanks Graham Westwood for all the hints and allegations around where to find fish on that river. And thanks more to the owners and moderators and contributors to this forum I believe I finally am starting to know how to keep my line tight.

I liked this video so much! The flat water approach, the long leaders, the small flies, the thrill of success, the agony of loosing a few…..all in a day of pro anglers being REAL! I dug the understated music as much as the artfulness of the video. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much for sharing your appreciation of how we put together a video and how things unfold for us too. It's often the subtle stuff that means a lot to us in the creation of any video so when people like yourself dig those things, we feel the value even more:)

Really nice video. The setting, the crystal-clear waters and some really great subsurface eats caught on camera. Also you can tell it's homewaters. A more relaxed vibe to this video.

Getting stoked to fish that area again this weekend. I journeyed from Buck Lake last weekend looking for clear water in that area. Always a great time, I hooked some nice ones. I'm headed back down there this coming week to target some alpine fish. I will definitely try the river again as a hike towards the lake.

Aw man, have heaps of fun up there. It'll be absolutely prime with fish not having dropped too far down as yet given the cold spring and decent flows up top :)

I fish tailwaters using this approach on a long 4 wt. great approaches!
@conorlinehan4434

My preference is as close to 13 ft and no longer then 14 ft as I can get a nice tapered roll out. 15 ft gives me a hard time with the 4 wt that I have I think.

It is and it should be fairly imminent as far as we know. Every product has a launch cycle and maybe it's not until spring? Worth waiting for. We field test and are included in early prototypes to final versions so there may have been a tweak, or...

Hi , I am a big fan , I love the channel ,and I cannot thank you enough for the effort you provide for the sport .I have a question : when it comes to euro nymphing , how do you adjust the tippet length vs the water depth ? Many subject matter experts claim if the fly is touching the bottom , the fish won't touch it . Can you please elaborate or make a video .Your help is always appreciated .

Thank you for the compliments. I'd really look to videos George Daniels has done with New Fly Fisher TV as well as the live videos he's done with Orvis. We can touch on it but those are your 100% best bets right now. To the point of trout not touching nymphs in thr bottom substrate, to claim that absolutely is false as seen in many of our videos. Search our channel using the nymphing word and watch the video with the thumbnail of a brown trout scraping rocks for snails and nymphs. It's a great reminder and reality check 😊🍻

Why do you say Trout like "Trote"? What accent is this?
@jensenflyfishing
@jensenflyfishing Жыл бұрын
We're Canadians. Kiwis, Aussies, chileans, argentinians, Russians, euros, and 5 or 6 regional slangs in the usa pronounce trout extremely differently so is it worth commenting on? Just a thought! All the best. 🍻
