Cutting a classical guitar fingerboard on the Shapeoko XL

At first glance the bit looks very small. I got this from PreciseBits. I called them to get the correct speeds and feeds, as this bit can break without these. Also, had to change the acceleration rate in the controller software down to about half. According to John at PreciseBits, the fast acceleration rate is what breaks bits.
John also recommends this Shell-cutting bit over the fret slot bit, it can take more abuse.

Any aspirations to do the full neck with the CNC ? I would be really interested to see how it goes. I have had success cutting fret slots and doing inlays, but so far have not seen any good tutorials for the full neck.

Actually it takes me about 3 minutes to cut the fret slots on the table saw jig I've been using for 30 years. The CNC takes about 20 minutes. I dont do it to save time, I do it cause it's far more accurate than I can do with the table saw jog set-up. If it could French polish I'd use it .... ha!

@@JMichaelThames I'd love to see luthiers use more CNC to make guitars. The first machine I bought when I decided to make the guitar was a CNC and I never regret on it. lol.
