By a McHale 994 - Round Bale Splitter.
Combining simplicity and strength the McHale 994 Round Bale Splitter cuts bales of silage, hay or straw, quickly, neatly and efficiently. The McHale round bale splitter is powered by one double acting hydraulic cylinder and a uniquely designed knife; the round bale splitter will securely transport bales from the stacking site to the feeding location. The operator simply splits the bale as desired in the feeding area or into a Feeder wagon. If the McHale round bale splitter splits the bale in the feed out area, it can also be used to push the bale segments into the feeding location.

Yes it will cut dry hay .. But you need to do it with care..

Sure beats a chain saw. I would imagine that the blade would get dull after just a few bales.

Some messin for one bale, nice diesel bill at the end of that winter, bale slicers are a cod, nothing a shear grab or tine grab won't handle

+Evan Neely I believe so, only need to take a sanding disc to sharpen once/twice a year, cutting bales every other day.

+tmarbee They will cut dry hay easier than wet actually. Running a file over them from time to time to keep them sharp also keeps them working better.
