A loader and a tine grab is a great job for breaking up and grabbing in bales. We don’t use net on our bales anymore. The white film is a brilliant job. Good video

Bit late to the party but what we used to do was just use a bale handler. You take the rollers off and spike the bale then you jiggle it about and move the spikes from side to side and the bale comes apart easy as. Pretty easy to distribute it down a feeding passage that way with only having a bit to move to each side with a fork.

Cant understand why they’r sold with just 3 spikes instead of 4, great handy piece of kit though, totally agree with the lock off, came close to it smashing a back window, keep up the good videos👍🏻

had one for 4 years, very good for feeding smaller lots of sheep, where a whole bale is too much. usually cutting a bale in two or three across the way, and then picking up with the balegrab. give a rub with a flapper disc on your grinder now and again.
@michaelwalsh9145

That’s about all they’re good for, totally pointless with bigger cattle numbers as they’ll eat a full bale and it will last longer undisturbed.

I fully agree that the yellow safety guard should be removed. Even though mine wasn't hitting the tractor, it served no purpose and was more trouble than it was worth. If I bought a new splitter again, I'd remove the guard before it ever cut a bale... However, it would probably have taken you less time to undo the two nuts and take it off than it it took you to cut it. It's a very simple procedure. More importantly, the two grease nipples down there that you refereed to are not for greasing the guard. They are for greasing the main pin, and should get grease regularly!
@IFarmWeFarm
@IFarmWeFarm 4 жыл бұрын
Mike Smythe yes it’s always greased, whenever I go to part with it I will take of the two hinges and weld all back together quite easily. I’ll be an old man before that happens though 😉

Where did you get the electronic changeover valve and how much was it? Our tractor for the diet feeder is a spool valve short and our dealer quoted us nearly £1500 to fit another one but didn’t want to do it due to the hassle it would be or cause. Nightmare swapping pipes.

Nice channel lad, you said you use this in a feed passage as well, hows that work out for ya. I use a 4'6" shear grab, it's handy but fair dangerous when ya have hungry weanlings rooting the heads out through the barriers when feeding. That's a grand tidy case ya got.
@IFarmWeFarm
@IFarmWeFarm 4 жыл бұрын
I use the same shed grab and i know very well what you mean about the dangers, there's no danger with the splitter as it will be splitting the bale in the centre of the passage way away from the cows heads. there will be a video on that in a few weeks anyhow so keep tuned for that

Money well spent is that and money saved in doctor bills for pain killers and specialists scans!!!
