Cutting and splitting firewood

Just a video of my father and I cutting and splitting firewood. Our firewood splitter is a Timberwolf TW-5 that we have had for 15 years and it works great. We bought the conveyor off an old farmer about 12-13 years ago. And the log trailer that we have is a Silva Hill. If you would like some more information on our setup, please let me know in the comments and i will make a video going over our whole set up.

Why do you split the bigger stuff down with a chainsaw first? An extra bite or 2 with the splitter would be easier I would have thought. The fail with the quick release bucket was gold.

I split the bigger stuff down with a chainsaw so I don’t have to struggle with it on the log splitter. As in rolling it around trying to get another bit. Plus it fits easier between the sides of the table grate. Doesn’t push up against the sides as much

Thank you, we’re from New England and do construction so we get most of our wood from jobs that we do. We also have some connections with local tree guys and they’ll give us logs too we just have to grab it with our log trailer
