Forced abscond from a standing tree. Two experienced bee keepers came out to the farm to help me remove an active bee hive from a tree trunk.
They used a homemade bee vacuum to rehome the bees

At Rock Hill Farm and Homes we upload new videos at least 3 times per week, about our 20 Acre hobby farm, our John Deere 2038R compact tractor and other equipment, and the businesses that we run.
These businesses include a manufacturing operation, a Christmas tree farm, real estate investing, a lawn care business, and an online retail store. I demonstrate how I am able to use these ventures to earn a good living without a traditional job.
We have some cool toys and always think outside the box on our little homestead so come along for the ride.
You can expect new videos from us every other day, usually around 8 AM.

Yeah, the location of the hive is why I could not get anyone else to do it. I learned a lot about bees and I am I’m getting in the hobby now I tried to pay these guys for the work they did and they would not take the money Thanks for watching

This was a highly interesting / educational post. Your and the beekeeper's efforts were a testament to sensitivity to " nature" while still getting the job done. Pollenators are key to our food chain. Good job guys to removing the tree and the hive. Thanks for bringing us along!

Thanks for watching. And the bees are now set up on a neighboring property. Glad we could save them and I’m going to put another hive on my property about 200 yards away

Awesome video!! As someone who grows a garden I appreciate the bees. We just don't understand how important bees are to us. All my neighbors spray their lawn in the spring and fall to get rid of the dandelions but I told my wife no way they are too important to attracting bees!

The way bees are dying off or being killed, you’ve done a good job trying to save hive. I actually thought it was against the law to cut a bee tree, but maybe not if you capture and remove. If you didn’t find the queen, will they swarm and relocate on their own? Then they could requeen captured bees. Thanks for sharing.
@RockhillfarmYT
@RockhillfarmYT 2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t look into the laws but I think if you are doing it to save the bees it should be fine? I don’t think they did find the queen because they swarmed last night and left

It is illegal to cut bee trees only if that is your soul intention. Seeking them out to rob or destroy them. If the tree is residential and poses a health hazard then it can be removed. I dung a swarm out the studwall of a house. Could not capture the bees. Had to kill the hive. Removed over 100 pounds of honeycomb.

We did not find it, although it’s not so much larger than the regular bees and could’ve been sucked up in the vacuum without realizing it. I need to follow up and see if they found it in the hive box

I can't believe he didn't get stung on the first cut. I was cutting a tree next to one full a bees and had to run for my life. Think the sound or vibration pissed them off.

I have another tree that still has an active hive in it not far from this one It’s kind of weird how they behave. They mostly leave you alone If you get too close one or two of them will come out to you and follow you however far away you want to go. They buzz all over you but a lot of times don’t sting you The entire time we were cutting up the tree and actually in there taking them out They didn’t bother with us as much even if we didn’t have the gear. I think the saw is so loud it disorients them and they just focus on the hive When we would take a break and go 50 feet away then they would be all over us I only got stung once that day but the next day I got stung five or six times while we were trying to excavate to the building

2:52, the bees aren't attacking your arm? How is this possible? And that's shocking how the bees found a way into that tree., was that rotted to begin with or did the bees hollow that out?
