Cutting brush with BCS 32" Brush Mower and 26" Flail mower

BCS 32" Brush mower and 26" Berta flail mower, cutting tall brush (brambles, vines, saplings, thorns) on a BCS 853 diesel tractor. Both get the job done nicely. However, of the 2 types of mowers, only the dedicated brush deck will mow down the larger size (1"+) saplings. Note: we are going slow in the video as to get better shots. We could have mowed this much faster. Also note first operator in the video is a 17 year old woman, about 5' 2" tall. This equipment is very easy to use for young and old, short and tall, male or female.

It's good, however for this aplication a sickle bar would be more effective. Then you can set the brush on fire after it dries or pulverize it with the flail mower

Good to see a woman doing this type of work. It's old and boring to see men doing all this. I beginning to wonder if there were any women interested doing this. I am so hearing it's man's work.

Yes, that what the flail mower does, "pulverize" the material its cutting. For this reason its popular for both small scale growers (pulverizing cover crops/old plants) and cutting brush as well. As to cut height, it gets to about 1/2" cut height and up to 2.5" (without optional caster wheels). With the caster wheels you can cut up to 4".

On the flail mower 1" MAX for woody saplings. This video has been up for a few years, but seems like I cut a decent size (thickness wise) tree. If so, no, the flail would not have cut that. But yes on all the other vines, brambles and brush. The flail mower can run over woody stuff larger than 1" without hurting the flail mower...just won't cut it. Hullo. In the UK we are told that if the mower can bend it or ride over it, then it can much it. But that's in the UK. Cheers.
