Envy. The enemy of a peaceful soul. I may need to stop watching your videos. You are doing a wonderful thing being self reliant and disciplined. So, envy and regret that I didn’t do something similar when I was able to do so. So, to the younger guys,,,,,,,don’t avoid the opportunity to live your dream.

On todays episode, Shawn talks about the importance of girth. Lol jk, you should hang up the horseshoe you found on the workshop for good luck 🍀! It would be cool to see a video of all the stuff you have found on your properties one day. Thanks for the explanation on the clearing, always interesting to hear about how / why you are managing your forest. Did the consultant visit this property as well?

I am 74 years old now. My mobility is somewhat compromised and I'm at home a lot, not a lot of friends. And I find that that, particularly when I'm troubled, I can turn on one of your videos from either broadcast and just quietly spend some time with a friend. A few hours where everything is going at a sane speed instead of the frenetic pace of the every day jumble. I can't express how important that is to me. Give that miserable dog some serious c's & p's (cuddles & pats). I've seen that look on a dog's face before. Criminals, every one.

I can't imagine how difficult clear cutting a forest to make farm land would have been with original frontier implements. Just getting the previous forest floor to be able to be plowed with a horse and plow. All those roots!

Its not like your clearing the forest like being done here in New Brunswick letting Irving clear cut the forests by hundreds of acres, you are removing a small few for the good of what is left to produce in the future. Makes sense to me!

We had a mast year for oak last year in Haliburton. I picked up buckets full of acorns and about 50% had started to germinate. I spent the last week with my grandchildren planting them throughout the forest around our cottage. Hopefully they will be able to look back in 50 years and remember that they helped maintain a thriving forest

I commend you for what you are doing. It's always good to improve timber, habitat, and wildlife. I don't know if you realize, but there is a reason the forests are dying off one tree at a time especially up north. It's because commercial airplanes are dumping excess fuel at high altitudes. The federal government will deny this, but it's true. Do you ever wonder why when after it rains, that there is sudsy water in the creeks and reservoirs. This is not normal. Most experts will tell you..., on no, the reason the trees are dying is because the bugs are bad this year. Not true. Bugs only get into trees that are already sick and diseased. It's nature way of cleaning up the forests. Any way just some food for thought. Keep up the good work. God Bless!
