Cutting Hay! With A John Deere 6420 & A New Holland H7450 Discbine

Here's a video of us cutting first crop hay last June. This took place quite awhile ago, but only recently did I 'refind' the footage in the 'lost files' department of my laptop; hence the roughly nine month late publishing.... While watching it again, I was surprised to see again a fawn running ahead of the tractor in the uncut hay, before eventually cutting in front of the tractor and making its way for the nearest fenceline. This one was lucky that I saw it and slowed down a gear or two. You hate to hit fawns and other animals when you're cutting hay, but lot's of times its hard not to when they're hiding down there or staying low.

Elm custom harvesting ya this past week Vermont got over a foot of snow it sucked took for ever to clean up but at least we did not get what you got

We farm a little north of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and right now we're all bare, frozen ground. But a few days back a storm went through and dumped two feet of snow in places between us and Milwaukee. Thankfully it missed us!

Does the 6420 feel underpowered pulling that discbine?

Not really, it handles it pretty good.

How does that tractor handle it the 7450 on rolling hills? Does the tractor have enough power to mow at 8-10 mph?

It does good on hills. The fastest we cut was about 6~ or so, but it does fine.

Probably about 4.9 MPH? I think it was always a little under 5.

What is the crop?

That was 1st crop of 2016 and it was alfalfa along with some grasses.
