CUTTING IT UP with Milwaukee & Hilti

Two awesome saws to try out while cutting both pathway concrete and brick walls. It was a pleasure to try these out thanks to Corey from IFIX automatic gates and doors.
We smashed through all the cutting we required and found out just how good these saws are. The milwaukee was definitely lacking in places but its early days for the larger mx battery gear.
Im excited to see what they make in the future for this application.

A solution that milwaukee can adopt would be an optional plug in adapter that slides into the battery slot and allows the machine to be run off 240v (conversion from 240v ac to whatever DC voltage the machine needs)

Yeah, i think that would be an excellent solution to alot of the high power demanding battery tools. I believe a few pf the battery companies do have them and hopefully the rest aren't too far from releasing them.

Milwaukee brought prototypes to our job site when they were developing this saw. They were heavy as hell but they cut a lot better. We’re not running off the MX batteries. Almost seemed like a car battery. Sure was able to make a lot of cuts with it. I’d take heavier for more runtime.

I have removed thick concrete like that before by cutting grooves about a half inch deep and hitting with a sledge hammer on top of the grooves. Breaks all the way through with one hit. There was no rebar in there though.

I have the maketa 36 v concrete cutter and I would have caught at least 4 of those shortcuts with that no problems maybe 6 The trick is and it's very important that you do not put any pressure on the saw you must do the cutting at its own speed you just Pull the saw along at its own speed and you will get a lot more Cuts out of it that what I do

Milwaukee came to talk to my apprenticeship class last week. They were asking us about products, what we would like to see, what we DON'T like, etc...we pointed out that Southwire, Greenlee, etc stand up wire puller/tugger uses a plug-in Milwaukee Right-Angle (Hole Hawg) Drill as the motor...Milwaukee said they are working on making a "tugger" - Like this Wet Saw, Some tools just CANNOT run on batteries...Like the Electrical Vehicles we are seeing, Range and charging times are the biggest issues...Thanks, But NO THANKS...

Hey bud, good vid and enjoying your progress. Yeah doesn’t add up with the limited run time on the battery 🪫…I’m sure they’ll revisit and make more viable shortly? I must admit I keep trying to figure out were your house is, I wouldn’t post the address of course, but see you are in a great growth area, wife’s sister brought in that area near 20 years ago , $110K for 3 bed 1x bath decent size block, like you they have since renovated fully and sitting on a gold mine now. I’m wondering what you are doing with your roof? Just going to restore concrete tiles? Like you my old roof is not sarked which is a pity. I restored with a professional roof company and quality roof paint , but looking back I think I look have considered colour bond option…new paint less than 2 years is not looking fresh at all ☹️….I’ll have to contact the company and test their name. Maybe consider colourbond upgrade…also Velux’s are great and also insulated fly over roofs for front and rear exterior extra covered areas. Ya cylinder mower won’t be getting any use this season 😢 PS . I make noise at 7am Saturday, but wait till 9am on Sunday ….my neighbours are very used to it 😂

Hey shane. I’m sure Milwaukee will Improve as batteries get more efficient. Fingers crossed. We are watching a lot of the street do renovations as well which is great. We definitely liked the location. We both have lived in the similar area our whole lives also. Not sure what we are doing with the roof yet. Most likely get someone to come out and give some quotes. Seems you read our mind, we are doing a few sky lights and also a flyover patio for the back. Trust me I’m missing the mowing, but I’m extremely excited for the front lawn transformation later on.
