Yep, this is a sweet sword for sure. It might not look like it due to the narrow blade but it really just scalpels its way through tatami mats as if they were made of cotton candy. Feels amazing in the hand too and flows effortlessly.

You fellows are very pleasant to watch. I too have a Cervenka but mine is a 15th century quillion dagger with a 15" hollow ground blade. I am extremely happy with it and the price was very good, IMO. Oh, and compared to other custom and even non-custom makers his delivery is very fast.

It will be CSN14260 spring steel on ~52HRC for sure, which means that from the perspective of knife knife blade it is bit soft and need more frequently to be resharpened, but for long blade from homogenous steel it is best choice - it could take some hard abuse, blade would not be chipped easily, I saw some really hard destruction tests with rapier blades on different level of hardness and 52HRC seems excellent for its purpose.

I'd recommend a score based system than thumbs and toes, but otherwise a great reveiw. And well deserved Vladimir Cervenka is probably the best European swordsmith there is.

I would like to see a review of that Schiavona that is mentioned here. As I've considered getting one of my own, but I am not quite sure with what techniques are to be used with them... (As they originate from just before Scottish broadsword manuals were written. Besides the fact that they originate from around Venice, and having spread across the whole of North-Western Europe. And not that much the British isles)
@HEMASimian7 жыл бұрын
It's definitely something we're planning on reviewing, just needs some testing first though

Count me in as extremely interested in this as well. I'm basically thiiiiiis close to going for one. --> | | The only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger is his rather rough finish work as of his old MyArmory reviews c. 2011, which is unfortunately all that there is on his stuff right now. But this footage of the sidesword already goes a long way toward dispelling any hesitation. :)

If I had the money to have a sword commissioned, I would wholeheartedly choose a classic medieval one-handed sword. The only problem being that I don't know whether I'd choose a 12th, 13th, or 14th century style. For some reason, to me, swords begin to become less appealing from the 15th century onwards. Don't get me wrong, this sword is amazing, but it's just not something that *I* would buy, myself.

If I were to commission another 1 hander, it would probably be a falchion. I handled one of Angus Trim's, and it was absolutely top notch.

Yeah, outside the steel being mildly on the soft side, this is probably one of the best handling 1 handed swords I've ever held. Considering the price I definitely wasn't expecting it.
