I have a 2001 e38 those are normal mechanical issues to have with these cars. Couple more things you will run into pretty soon for sure, vacuum leaks, valve cover leaks, chain guides goin to @%&@ which will cost you a major coin, coolant reservoir blowong up, :-). Good luck.

One of my all time favourite!!! I absolutely LOVE the E38!! It’s so beautiful 😍!! I would never buy one lol. I just know its unreliability would break my heart. I can’t buy a car I can’t count on no matter how much I love it. I wish more people felt that way maybe we would have more reliable cars to choose from and I wouldn’t have to drive around in a Toyota tundra.

😂😂😂😂In 2012 I bought a 1100 '79 mk1 golf 2door from NewCastle(KZN South Africa) . I couldn't even do a 3point turn, decided to get it back to OEM height. Jacked it up and the springs all fell to the ground. 1st time I had ever seen 3piece coil springs per wheel. 😂😂😂😂

@essjay8615 күн бұрын
Regarding the headlight issue on the silver car, I had the same problem with my E39. It was caused by a blocked sunroof drain hole, water draining down into the cabin and soaking the LKM/LCM (light control module). Mine was totally fried so had to get a spare off a breaker, which works but it needs coding to my car now as the milage doesnt match so have a tamper dot showing on dash. Worth looking into that!

Old cars …. can be saved easily but unfortunately most UK garages labour cost is beyond ridiculous bearing in mind normal job pays 15£ per hour
@mralekos14 күн бұрын
I don’t think so, garages have overheads which most people don’t realise. And skilled senior & master techs are paid significantly more than £15ph.
@warlubie14 күн бұрын
@ talking about ordinary person wages not the tech….I get the overhead but it’s still ridiculous compering…mobile mechanics don’t charge as much….garages being owned with no mortgage or rent don’t have to charge as much….it’s a debate with no ending but it’s a reality and my post was only an opinion
@mralekos12 күн бұрын
@@warlubie rent & rates for something around 5000sq ft is over £50,000 PA, then there’s electric, gas, water, equipment, compressors, ramps etc that come at a cost. Insurance for the property & vehicles. The overheads and investments into a business are huge. And while mobile mechanics are good and have a place in the world they cannot undertake certain jobs, not due to lack of skill or knowledge but the work flow. They can’t stay with the same car for 3/4/5 days. A workshop can and the workshop has the space to “park” a job while the daily routine works get done and whilst you wait for parts required which at times take 5-7 days to arrive. I hear your points though but it’s worth taking a look into the inner workings and operations of places like Birds, Munich legends etc who are of the most established BMW specialists should they ever have an open day. It’s an eye opener. Yes not all can afford their rates, but anyone considering owning a car that may at times need a specialist needs to consider that these will need a serious investment and preventative maintenance. Just replacing fuel and brake pipes on an e46 M3 or even a 330i (and they’ll all need them doing now if they haven’t been done) will swallow 8-10 hours labour. Full service history is nice, but maintenance/repair bills are nicer to see when buying a car.

Normally, we used to bend the top of the cut coil back down to make it flat. Otherwise it will be punching through your tophats and eventually, frame of the car.
