I have the Pequea tt4100 that I traded a NH 162 (which is a re badged kuhn) that we bought in 1987 and all we ever did was change 2 tires, I just got tired of folding it manually. the Pequea was more money than other brands but it is heavier built and is an excellent machine. how the hay spreads out depends on moisture and how heavy and length of the hay. both ted hay the same as in spreading. fresh cut hay spreads out more even then hay that dry on top or hay you have to reted because there is a mixture of moisture levels and heavier and lighter hay as it gets thrown the heavier hay will fling farther than the lighter it separates somewhat and makes areas that look like gaps. I bet you'll notice to when you ted fresh cut hay when your done there is hardly anything hanging on the tedder but tedding drier or hay that got rained on hay hangs on the tedder arms and wrap on the wheel axles because tough hay doesn't flow as smoothly .

Wes just wondering on this higher moisture hay 25-30% . I know you have your process that works for you to handle and store it. what about hay preservatives like acid? I know you don't use it probably because of cost and you feel you don't need to. I was wondering more if the mulch barns don't want it used because it might have an affect the compost process.

Someone explain to me please. Wes is cutting the hay and the machine is laying it down in a windrow. As soon as he can get Tim to come behind him the hay will be tedded. Are there mowers that will throw the hay out the back in a spread out fashion like it's been tedded? It seems that it would be great if the mower teds the hay to save the tedding pass through the field. Probably a dumb question but to me it seems logical. :)
@jackybruckers7 жыл бұрын
A tedder makes windrows if the grass is to light to throw it far away . If my tedder makes windrows , it is for me the sign that the moisture is low enough for baling .
@johnrobinson50567 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with that tedder Wes, more steel in that than a lot of European ones that are sold in the U.K., one good feature you can get on the Class Volto is a flip over gate which is used for the outside swath to prevent the grass being thrown off the mown ground.

Poison ivy has to have some mature leaves actively growing when herbicide is applied and even then it can take 2-4 yrs to kill the roots. Isn't mowing and spraying shortly after pointless unless other weeds are a bigger issue.
