Sam i just want to say how awesome your videos are. I trained as a hairdresser from the age of 14 and have been a little 'out of the loop' since giving up my much loved career to start my family. You must be such an inspiration to all the hairdressing trainee's and stylists out there, I wish i could have trained with you. I love your sense of humour too. Fab tutorials. Keep up the great work xxx

So I have been chopping my long hair for the past year, first cut I took off 13", the next 5 and so on. Tonight I went to my friends a floor below and showed her this video and had her try it. She did her best however was nervous and basically gave me a long bob. I was not unhappy but I am stubborn so I came home and with two mirrors did it myself and it worked. I love it. You know it is no fail when some one can do it behind their back. :) Thanks so much Sam, you are aces. Now all I need to figure out is how to lighten it without it turning brassy.

I found this video years ago - what a godsend. Yes it's a great technique & never fails. But even though I know it by heart by now...a month ago a brain freeze resulted in my using the wrong hand, fingers lol what a mess! So I needed to revisit just to make sure I was doing it correctly. Glad you also got great results ☺ Also this is the basis for what is now called "curtain bangs." Which is as far as my interest in trendiness goes. BTW there's an updated version of this video but this is the go-to 😊

Cuttin* bangs can range in price from $26.00 - $40.00. Depends on where and who you choose to do this. The senior or master ones demand more money. After I hear these prices, I’m tempted to do my own but I can’t even cut a slice of cake even, so who am I kidding? 😉

I got inspired and I've just tried this technique on myself and I'm more than happy with what came out. My hair is long and pretty flat, my goal was to freshen it up a little. AND IT WORKED! Although I modified it a bit- I used a smaller section of hair, as I wished for subtle and fluffy result. This is the first time ever I did something to my hair that hasn't turned out as an embarrasement. I feel great :) Thank you for this video, I definately need to check out more of your stuff.

Thank you, so much! I have straight hair and have been cutting my own bangs for years. I wear this exact style, but often botch the job, as one side of my hair is a bit more dense than the other. I gave this technique a go, as it seemed that the twist would address this issue. Though a bit hesitant to cut as short as desired, I gave it a go, and my assumption was correct. Perfect arc, perfect frame! Plus, knowing that they are even, I won't spend the next three days attempting to edit my angles (the elevation tip was very helpful).
