Thank you so much for this informative series of videos on welo opal. I thought you had to avoid water completely. I don't know where you are or if the flat dish lap equipment can be used in North America.
@ElieGhanimeEG2 жыл бұрын
Hello Bonnie, I’m in the US and you can get everything from here, you can check with Kingsley North they’re located in MI. The flat machine I was using it’s an old faceting machine that I have but you can use any other flat machine. Thank you for watching my videos and if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

Hi, thank you for yor channel, I am complete beginner and all this is so helpful! Anyway, I need some answears and not sure where to find them. Maybe someone more experienced could help me. 🙂Could you please tell me about the final polishing of Welo opals? Specificly, what is the best? Use a cerium oxide, or diamond paste and if yes, water based or oil based? I really like organic shapes, so I am not about to make a cabs from stones and its dificult to get into all those small areas. Anyway, there is so many contradictory informations about the final polishing stage. I would be very happy if you, or someone else will give me some explanation how to do it. Thank you.

Hi Tereza and thank you for watching my videos, like I mentioned in one of the videos that Welo Opal is hydrophonic that means it will absorb water; However, the water will eventually evaporate and the colors will come back, but if you use Cerium Oxide that will not evaporate and it will stay in the stone, so don’t use cerium oxide. After you grind the opal to shape going maybe up to 14,000 grit using only water you will need to finish by using diamond polish spray, you can use 50K grit then finish with 100K grit, don’t use oil or water with it. I hope that will help.

Hi Eg Jewels, Is there any special techinque to dry out the wello opal Some say you have to put the opal in a plastic bag and seal it for 2 weeks is that correct.!
@EgJewels2 жыл бұрын
No you shouldn’t do that, you have to leave them out so the water will have the chance to evaporate, if you want you can keep them in your pocket, your body heat will speed up the evaporation. Thanks again for watching my videos.

Could you help with advice? I have purchased a smoked welo opal. It has a spot on the surface. Is it possible to grind the spot off without further resmoking the area? Will it change the color where the grinding was?
@EgJewels Жыл бұрын
It depends on how deep the spot is and it’s very hard to tell without seeing the stone.

Здравствуйте. Спасибо Вам за замечательный учебный фильм. Скажите, пожалуйста, использовали ли Вы стабилизирующие полимеры и , если использовали, то какие? Спасибо.
