@@dim3nt0 i don't know, I suspect it might actually make a big difference on system memory and hard drive performance.. would be nice if Chris went more in depth about processes, especially the core OS ones and their impact with eg some benchmarks or even latency ones. Out of logic a light process OS should make everything more snappy rather than giving a performance uplift, but it would be nice to go more in depth about this argument. Maybe its is an IPC thing, so less processes leave more IPC space for things you are actually using.

I've used versions of this tool in the past. Thanks for taking the time to upgrade it and keeping it working. Happy to hear about being able to remove defender. I made a windows 10 gaming machine that runs super smooth with that past video on making a custom iso and removing a lot of the components like windows defender. The tool is way easier but either way it's fun to be able to stick your hand into their os and rip out the garbage.

Hi Chris, Great work as always, long time viewer of your channel and really enjoy your content, its been great to see you grow. I've been using this script for a long time now and ended up donating to support you. I would love to see some work done in the services space, disable and kill off things that just are not needed. I've played around with NTLite in the past and really enjoyed what can be done, but life gets in the way and I just don't have the time. There is a forum post titled 'GamerOS Windows 10 & 11 DIY Preset' It might be worth 5 mins of your time. I find this hilarious. The only way to be secure is to never connect your pc to any network connection. Anything beyond that is merely a false sense of security. It is constant battle of balance between how secure you want to feel over the freedom that you have (sounds kind of like what Benjamin Franklin was talking about when it comes to government and safety). Just look at how much Windows has grown in space and processes just so they can track everything you do selling access to that tracking to multiple companies (you would be surprised as to how many companies your base Windows computer sends information too constantly that is not Microsoft. And believe it or not, Android, Linux, and Apple also does this. But if a person is such a novice with Windows that they do not know what UAC is and what it does, then they should NOT be downloading or running any script from the internet regardless where it is from.

The only temporary way to fix this is by disabling and re-enabling the battery drivers, which also resets once windows is restarted, hence the battery icon disappears again.

If I take an average of the processes from a few days after using the script, then the improvement is not as good as the first measurement suggests. I don’t think I ever reached cutting in half yet, but I guess it varies a lot. A lot of people report a very big improvement. (If I understand correctly, this all comes from just the service tweaks part of the script?)
@farmeunit
@farmeunit 2 жыл бұрын
Most tweak tools never make that big of a difference unless your machine is really old or resource starved. I haven't used this so I can't say. Plus, as I get older, I have less time to put into tweaking. All my machines run fine and I have no issues with UAC, etc.. I just don't get it, but there is definitely a market for it.

@alanelston2330 2 жыл бұрын
@@farmeunit Your point about the performance improvement seems to be echoed by many who have actually tested fully. But there are also claims of great performance improvements. I think I did once notice on a low spec machine a noticeable improvement in general performance using such as tool a coupe of years ago. This thing is definitely a KZbin success, and on balance I am very glad, because I have learnt so much from Chris. I encourage supporting him, but I am less keen on recommending the final product to people unless they know something about it: what it might or might not do. One other thing to note I guess, is that the utility, as its now called, has moved on to do things outside the classic Debloat/optimise/tweak area, hence Chris spent some time thinking about the title of it for his new version. Using the processes does not really reflect a true measure of the utility performance, but it fits a nice popular KZbin video, as does the title. (Chris has a better descriptive title for the video at his site where he calls it a utility update. That title at KZbin would not get so many hits.)

Hey Chris! First and foremost I would like to thank you for all the work you have put into this. The performance increase and the battery life is clearly noticeable after running the tweaks. Unfortunately, I had issues on the later versions of the project. I was getting random flickering on any window I had open (just the window, not the whole screen). It would change from not responsive to normal several times per second and last until I switched windows. It would happen at random intervals and happened on my ryzen desktop and my intel laptop. I figured it had to be something in the tweaks, because the laptop was running fine for over a year and the only thing I applied were the tweaks after a windows update. I tried undoing the tweaks but at the time it didn't work properly (thanks for taking care of it already). I also had the missing battery icon and the "your organization prevents you from doing x" error, so I decided to format both machines instead of spending 3 more days dealing with that. I will hold on until your next release to test it out and properly back up my machines this time. I figured I would bring this to your attention and hopefully help a little. Thanks again for everything, aside from that, this project is absolutely awesome and I truly appreciate all the hard work!

Great work Chris, I dont know who is running Windows 1.0 *cough* 11 but great work no matter what :P All jokes aside your script found 26 apps needing updating. Again great work to upgrade all apps at once!

Sure love how you help people get the options to remove things they don’t like in win as a lot of "things" is just useless features running in the background that people don’t even want or have any use of. It would be great if MS come up with a lite gamers version of win but that will we probably never ever see. And that they released the KB5017383 update that trashed game performance on some systems just show how out of control they are (again) about their codes and management. So thank you for your work Chris. 😊

This is really impressive, would save a lot of time whenever installing OS's for sure with the software list. Great for virtual machines too.

I would rather have UAC turn into user password prompt to make installs after the first setup more secure, but your script is still a hell of a time saver. Thank you !

Cutting windows processes in half is mainly done by grouping them (i.e. _SvcHostSplitThresholdInKB_ ), but in doing so you aren't really improving the overall performance, right?

Thanks for all you do for us poor windows users. I'm working on becoming more proficient with Blender and I know Linux would be better, but I'm just not ready to take on both adjustments (switching from lightwave to blender) at once. I am planning to install a second boot drive on my computer for Linux to run my renders on and that will be the beginning of my transition from windows forever. I just got a new Windows 10 computer it started at 150 processes, I ran you software and that took it down to 100, but still a lot going on. Am I doing something wrong? I see you mentioning getting it down to 40 odd in videos, can you tell me if I've missed something, or is there another video you can point me to that will help me bring that down? Thanks again. I've been watching you for years and you are one of the few that gives advice I really trust.

I'm 61, not a power user and just did retire my 2006 Dell 520 Pentium 4 Windows 7 dinosaur. I have 2 newer machines now that I am installing Windows 10 on but the vast amount of unneeded programs and apps and the amount of Microsoft intrusiveness has blown me away. I'm following your guides to remove and disable some of them and cut the processes down to 128 so far. I found that when installing a fresh install it is best to not have an internet connection and not link to a Microsoft account. It made removing OneDrive much easier. I followed instructions to remove Edge using PS, GP editor and doing some reg edit but Edge is still listed on the apps list. Seems like Microsoft is on the trail to make Edge total removal more difficult, but I thank you guys for these tutorials and helping me to learn how to reduce some resource hogs and snoopiness of Microsoft Windows.

I have reason to believe this is not fully un-doing changes. The biggest tell is during fullscreen gaming. Pre-implementation, alt tab behaved normally and fast with minimal flickering, stuttering, etc when closing or opening. After running the tool they act like I disabled full screen optimizations and have tons of flickering, stuttering, etc and bog the entire machine down and takes much longer to perform the alt tab. I undid the changes and the games are still behaving the same. Also I'm noticing the running process amount is staying low like the changes are still in effect. Please advise
