When removing components a good starting point is the templates (not shown in the video). Essentially the “privacy” template unchecks ALL of the components marked green. From there you can untick more (or less) but it’ll save you a lot of trouble going through all the menus.

Just wanted to mention something important: When it comes to disabling Windows Defender, you'll want to keep the window open, just minimized. Or else it will turn itself back on and it may happen before you're ready for it. But keeping the window open and minimized somehow keeps it disabled until you either close the window, or re-enable it.

Good ol' days... 20-25 years ago, I made similar things with Windows 98, then 2k and XP. In reality, only the 98lite worked as expected (I have used it to remove Internet Explorer integration from the shell, so it was much stable and faster - and it was still possible to install it separately as a browser). None of the others worked well as the mentioned glitches continuously appeared, so I gave this up after the 98 times - but anyway, it's nice to see that someone else is continuing this road... Just one recommendation for 3rd party installations: if possible, always use MSI packages (FF and VLC also has it), so you don't need to research for the silent install option - it's always the same for all MSI packages. Otherwise, I don't recommend any other customization - there are still chances that some apps or games will not kick off (for example: if secure boot is not enabled, FIFA 23 will not start on Windows 11).

Great video. Thank you for taking time to make these. It is greatly appreciated. Per your request, I do like the Windows Wallpapers, so I would keep that. However, when I install Windows, I generally don't have my computer connected to the Internet when installing, and I usually install something called WinAero Tweaker with the setting adjusted to "Disable Auto Update of Store Apps" and I find it keeps a LOT of that garbage off my system. Only after I got a local account pretty much the way I want it, and to block store apps update, then I connect the Ethernet cord and watch Windows update first tell me my computer is up to date, then actually come up with a scrolling list of updates. I will also likely remove all the bloat except for CDM for that lockscreen wallpapers and I will finally be able to banish Edge. I will be trying it on my "Break Me" machine first if it allows me to bypass the EUFI (or whatever) TPM, CPU, nonsense requirements. I have an ISO for that, but obviously I'll be blowing that one away in favor of this particular customized incarnation. My favorite browser by far is Mozilla Firefox, and then my go to when Mozilla blocks too much that it breaks things, "Brave", Opera, and Vivaldi. But for the most part, Firefox trumps everything and that's what I use if I can get to do what I need to get done. WinAero has a silent install so I might play with that and see if I can make it do that. I ALWAYS use the program. If I had my way it would come with Windows. I could have SWORN you told it not to install Edge, but maybe just wishful thinking on my part. Luckily, I have what I call a "Break Me" computer which is not my every day use computer. I use it to practice setting up what I want to do. As better as it is, there is still sometimes the need to blow away the computer and start from scratch again. Back in XP days I was doing it twice a year. Back in Windows 7 and 8.1, every other month, 10, once a year and 11... Maybe once every 3 years or so, give or take a year. $96.00 does seem a bit unreasonable. If the price was around $20.00 or $30.00 it would be worth it to pay and help the person out. I've always had the philosophy to keep prices low. For example, if I see something for $5.00. Keep the price there. If you raise it to $10.00 and no body can nor wants to pay it, then you'll end up with ZERO. $5.00 is more than nothing... This plays out in my head differently and I am not able to get it out the way I want it, so I hope the point came across. You're really awesome. The information you provide here is invaluable. It helps SO many people, and we need more people like you in the world, that takes the time to teach others. The information is valuable to those that know how and like to manipulate their computers. It's unfortunate we have to jump through so many seemingly impossible hoops to make OUR computers do what WE want them to do and that's another reason this information is so valuable.
@CyberCPU Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words. Winaero Tweaker essentially just installs registry patches. You could do all the mods that program does manually when you create the ISO so that they will just apply automatically without having to have the program. In each mod from the program it has a link to a page showing you how to do the same thing manually. Use those instructions to apply to your ISO and you're done. I have used chrome for years. At this point it's just habit. I stopped using Firefox years ago when it was an absolute memory hog. I think it's gotten better now but I haven't used it for so long I just use Chrome now. However, I have been considering switching to brave.

It will be work, but I think my efforts will be more rewarding. I will have to learn this ISO building method to include my programs with it instead...maybe you could do a tutorial on that, too? Being able to capture the drivers is worth the cost to me right there. I was just thinking of how many people reload Windows on the newest popular machines, the mini PC. There are some security issues with some manufacturers but when reloading the OS and you assume the manufacturer has a support page like the major companies, you will be in for some disappointment when trying to find drivers for the product you just bought. This eliminates that worry. Great for older machines too where it can become difficult to locate drivers.
