great job, having the tools OUT, and showing us how to install them into the turret, THIS is what makes a beginners_to_cnc machines video series.

LOVE the graphical nature of the programming screen :-) NO complex algebra or D.O.S. commands required; just add the number in the box where that measurement value or target dimention lies, BRILIANT design. wish Mill cnc programming could be in your language!!

Great vid! Its a little confusing that path pilot wants the parting tool to be measured from the cuttoff side. Fusion360 expect grooving and parting tools to be measured from the "spindle" side. I'd love to also like to see how to set other shaped cutters, boring bars, threads etc.

Love it! I am looking at one of these for my shop . Any plans for a bar puller or feeder for small production automation?

+12vTools We don't currently have a bar puller system, but we have had some customers set up their own. Take a look at this video from G-Made CNC: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2SlZ5tqhd6Gbqc

Thx for the video. For arguments sake let's say you wanted to use a different tool in slot #1. Would you set work offset using tool #2, then adjust tool offset for tool #1? Marty
@klloveall
@klloveall 2 жыл бұрын
When setting the offsets for the parting tool, it seems this has been changed in more recent versions of pathpilot to reference the #2 center point instead of the #1 as shown in this video. Is that correct? If so, PLEASE add a popup on the video at that point correcting it; we've spent days trying to figure out why our parting tool offset was incorrect.

In the Tormach mill you have F10 and F11 if I'm not mistaken to overwrite the federate which is a great safety feature to avoid crashing the machine. Do you have any keys like that in the lathe? Thanks

Hi, can you manually program with gcode and not use the canned cycles?
@tormachinc
@tormachinc 8 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can. PathPilot lets you upload the G-code from your CAM software and then allows you to edit in the interface.

How do you turn long shafts on these lathes? (say 15")
@tormachinc

The 15L lathe was designed to be a chucker style lathe. While we do offer a tailstock option for it , the longest part you can machine with it is about 9". You can find the full specifications on our website. www.tormach.com/15l-slant-pro-lathe/#techspecs

@@tormachinc I actually have a bunch of parts exactly 9"I intend to make. Will 9" exactly, or a hair over, work with the tailstock?

Too far under, .0005 would be enough. Thanks for the video, I don't have a Tormach yet, but want one in the future!!!

I dont own a tormach yet, but I have been looking into them a lot lately. I like the idea of the path pilot, but it seems like it is lacking depth as a program. On a lot of the videos I watch of people using their tormachs for production work or even one off parts it seems like there is a lot of time wasted with the programming. Such as having the part move off of the work before switching to the next operation. Machining air is a big waste of time and if you are using the same tool why does the machine jump off of the work so far before coming back to the machine at a slower pace to cut the same area of material. Like I said I dont own any of the products yet, but am considering buying very soon. Just was curious is I was missing something here.

Hi Varrock, In this particular video, Daniel Rogge is covering conversational programming from within the PathPilot interface. There are advantages to creating a part in this manner as you can avoid using CAD and CAM software. It's a simple way of creating parts quickly. This video is intended for beginners just starting out. Alternatively, you can use CAD and CAM software to create g-code; which creates more complex parts, with more efficient tool passes and more repeatability. Tormach is constantly adding updates and improvements to the PathPilot interface. Here is a link to the PathPilot main page, where you can find more information on the software: www.tormach.com/pathpilot.html If you have more questions about the machines and their functionality, please contact us through our Contact Page: www.tormach.com/contact.html

So no matter what, if you're using a front tool post, your diameters are going to be negative? Sounds confusing.
@tormachinc
@tormachinc 5 жыл бұрын
Any tool working on the bottom of your part will use negative diameters to indicate their orientation to the controller. If you have more questions, we offer a lathe fundamentals class to learn more: www.tormach.com/workshops/#1521581119570-043ac007-33f7
