Cutty Sark - part 27 Finishing The Bow Deck

In this video i finish placing pieces on the bow deck. Only the external rails have left but this is one of the last things i will do before the masts. The construction of pump was one of the most difficult pieces i ever made. This Video comes in 1080p.

Those instructions are certainly not user-friendly, but the end results are amazing! The colors of this wood is awesome.

Indeed, the instructions requires experience but like you said the result is amazing!

Hey John, Great tip for next time, will make your life much easier. solder the brass,use flux to ease the soldering process, and in the end sand the soldering with a file to make it look nice. Cheers

Great model as always. The metal rods that you made last are, I think , supposed to be the capstan poles/handles. Of course, the plans have you make the capstan with the poles already in situ, while in reality, the poles would be stowed away (presumably in that rack) until needed.

Yes i have many times but always i end up with out of scale metallic parts, that's the hardest part. And then you have the sails, very difficult to find them.

@JohnsWoodenShips I believe you that they were hard:) Maybe I didn't express myself clearly, but I meant that if you look at your video at 27.30, you see on the drawing that the piece that are at the very end on the pump, the piece that looks like a big "D", the round part should be glued in place with the oval side inwards. Sorry, my english isn't perfect 😊
