For anyone who has issues removing the shaft. I was at mine for close to a half hour. Finally I came up with the idea to lightly tap the top of it with my 4lbs sledge and pry from the bottom. And popped right out.

Another tip for you guys when taking axles off the tranny or anything like it is that you use a flathead screwdriver and you put a wrench on the shaft of the screwdriver so that when you turn the wrench, it causes the tip of the driver to open the axle. Simple change of linear motion to angular.

I actually Pulled it off!!! Not only that but it actually fixed the problem I diagnosed. (car shaking only at highway speeds and only when accelerating- bad inner CV joint) Thanks a lot for the video Matt! For anyone who needs them................ TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS- Top Strut bolt 33 ft/lbs +/-3 ft/lbs Bottom Strut bolt 123 ft/lbs +/- 7 ft/lbs Axle Nut 181 ft/lbs +/- 21 ft/lbs. At least that's what my research turned up. Thanks again.

Hey Matt I have a quick question do u have to use the old teams fluid or can I use new fluid? Great video by the way it was by far the best automotive tutorial I have seen!
@MattsMotorz9 жыл бұрын
+Jonathon Gartmann You can absolutely use the old fluid as long as no dirt or anything got into it.

Sir why does my car shift but wont move at all even in reverse. When im not stepping on the clutch there are some weird rolling noise which is I think from the CV axle or from the boot part. My speedo reads some speed when im not pressing the clutch and coming back to as I press the clutch and the weird noises gone as I press in the clutch. What possible problem of my car sir? It is a Mitsubishi Lancer 97" with a Manual Transmission on it. Hope you answer sir. Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the video man! So is it the same process to do the other side?? I have a 2002 Lancer LS and it is vibrating bad but only when I accelerate or the car is under load (going up hills) while I am driving on the highway (60-80mph.) From searching around online it sounds like the inner CV joint (which does have a bunch of grease around it.) I hear no clicking or anything like that at low speeds and the outer boots look fine. But I figured I might as well just do both sides since I can get them both for less than $120 and while it didn't exactly look easy you did make it look pretty simple to do. So I think I might give it a shot. Thanks Again! *SUBSCRIBED AND *LIKED.
@MattsMotorz8 жыл бұрын
+crzywitboy3 Thanks for the subscription! It should be the same for the other side. It may differ very slightly as many times one axle is longer than the other one, but I don't know for sure with this car. Good luck!

+MattsMotorz Do you know anything about the torque specs for the tie rod end and the strut bolts?
@MattsMotorz8 жыл бұрын
I don't have them on hand unfortunately. I usually just make sure they are good and tight and it has served me well.

Isnt the correct way to check the auto transmission fluid is with the car running and preferably hot...??.otherwise it may be incorrect..

I'm a mechanic by trade and we don't do it like that we stick a punch in the rotor and pin it to the caliper for removing and installing axle nut
@pauldahlke49218 жыл бұрын
NEVER REUSE old tranny fluid that's taking a chance(dirt).Did it get a alignment after? Doing it the way you did it could add or subtracted up to 3 tenths of a degree on camber. That in my eyes will wear tires.

I wouldn’t use the impact on the axle nut I think it can damage it

It should be the same for my 96 eclipse, right? I have to do it myself : / I can't mess it up too bad can I? Lol -Nikki
@MattsMotorz8 жыл бұрын
It might not be. 96 may be a bit too far off from a 2002. But I honestly do not know for sure. At the very least, it will be pretty similar. You should be able to figure it out.
