CVA Cascade XT - First Shots and Sighting In

Just recently released! The new CVA Cascade XT (X-Treme) is CVA's new “precision-oriented” member of the CASCADE family. Several key features make it the perfect multiple purpose rifle for many hunters. Man I think I’m coming around to 6.5 PRC. The creedmoor is a sweetheart to shoot and took a elk with one but definitely not ideal. Prc kinda gets it in that sweet spot of low recoil but still extremely effective on game. CVA is awesome for producing such a quality rifle at a low price to boot. That’s appreciated especially when everything is crazy expensive now.

CVA has a Bergara barrel and I'm a Bergara fan. What I'm seeing is the barrel creating a path. It will settle after about 30 or so shots. It does have a break-in procedure to follow and after that it should settle but with bullet prices and other situations it is also hard to accomplish. I have a Cascade in 6.5 CM that will make ragged holes at 100. Anyone wanting a super accurate rifle without breaking the bank should try a Cascade. Always enjoy your videos

I've been watching your videos for a long while and I really have been enjoying your ballistic tests and reviews. Your love for CVA Cascade is understandable, I bought a cascade in 7mm mag and I have you to thank for it. I love this rifle, it has become my favorite. I was planning to buy another cascade until I saw this video. Now I'm getting the XT in 6.5 PRC because that caliber is growing on me. I have a rifle (Ruger American) in that caliber. Bought a CVA Cascade in 6.5 PRC on sale at Sportsman's Warehouse for $529 last July in the Killik K2 camo, which I really like...but I still have not had the chance to shoot it. FWIW I own not one but two CVA Cascades in FDE camo both in 450BM. One for me and one for my son. Both shoot no BS sub-moa with my handloads. My youngest sun is left handed so I bought him a CVA V2 Scout also in 450BM also a tack driver. All shoot the same reloads. I own bolt action, single shot break action and semi-autos from Tikka, Remington, Savage, Browning, Ruger, Mauser, T/C, NEF, CZ American, Aero Precision, and Palmetto State Armory so I know what good QC looks like and good fit and finish looks like. IMO the CVA Cascade is the best bang for your rife buck right now.

Well, between your review and "Review This Thing" I have a CVA Cascade in 6,5 CR, 308 Win and one in 7mm-08 on the way. Most accurate rifles I own, and I have some more expensive ones. The 308 cleaned the clock on a little 5 point on my last hunting day of the season. Mine love the Norma Whitetail ammo.

Ordered one of these in .223. Website hasn't been updated to show 223 available yet. Plan on using this for coyotes. Looked at a lot of different rifles and this one seemed to tick all the boxes. Plus yours and other reviews of CVA rifles seem overwhelmingly positive. I like that it's cerakoted and has the extra swivel stud. Should make it easy to hike into the hide and won't matter if I get rained on.

Nice rifle and groups are pretty good. Couple of tips for you, back your targets with box cardboard for cleaner better bullet holes for your vids. It appears the "Neck" of your rest has a pretty good wobble. Is it loose? Looks to be inducing some accuracy issues there it might have shot tighter yet! Like your channel brother keep em coming.

@@WHOTEEWHO also I’ve been watching long range hunter on KZbin as well. I haven’t tried them out yet but he reloads and hunts with the eldm bullet. Says hornady and other companies label these bullets as match so the government can use them in combat and that they actually expand better than the eldx. Maybe could do one of your old schooled milk jug tests and find out!

First bolt gun, Cascade Sportsman's Warehouse model in .308, at 10 rounds, just barrel break-in. Got my replacement trigger from CVA, the one that came with the gun in June was missing its adjustment screw! Waah! Quality control! A Remington 700 trigger design I guess. Now it adjusts, but not sure I like the 2-4 lb trigger. There's no take-up at all! Won't be taking this thing apart. What's your experience on the trigger? Have you installed a better one? Appreciate any comments from the readership.

Your groups are good. Group size changes as the barrel warms up is not as 0important as how the poi changes as the barrel warms up. If the group opens up a bit but stays on point of aim it won't effect it's usefulness in the field. In this case it is moving down and to the right. At ranges out to 200 yards or so this movement might not matter much. At longer ranges on smaller deer or or similar sized game it could cause a miss. Might want to check the hot barrel for clearance between the barrel and stock. A barrel can bend as it heats up. This could cause it to touch the stock. Removing a bit of the stock that touches the hot barrel may stop the movement of the group on target.
