Good shooting barrel length matters most depending on the amount of powder and the burn rate of the powder

Remove the sling swivel studs, the gun will ride better on the bags. At 713 you can see the stud on the front not making contact with the bag. Previously it could not be seen so it may have made contact throwing the shots around. Great video.

Yep I agree. I notice that u don't keep the gun in the same spot on the front rest consistently. Sometimes I notice your front sling stud is catching the rest. That will definitely affect accuracy and your groups. I know this from my own experiences. I always keep a 3 finger width between front sling stud and rest. Always!

I’ve experienced pretty similar with American Whitetail in 6.5 out of a Ruger American. It shot phenomenally well both unsuppressed and suppressed, but I find the ammo isn’t up to snuff for dropping within 100 yards. As for shooting suppressed and dealing with point of impact shift it is very common but is why having a direct mount suppressor is very important as that POI will be repeatable. But I often do keep dope on a card that reminds me of suppressed the non-suppressed zero’s. As for the inconsistency I’m not sure what the difference in barrel twist is for those guns, but I would do this minus the muzzle break on a bare muzzle and see and then see if the design of the muzzle break is also affecting POI.

Great video! Recoil reduction and weight changing the recoil impulse/direction can also tighten groups, but the barrel harmonics are certainly changed. The bullet is "in the air" after it leaves the barrel so the suppressor shouldn't be adding any stability. Perhaps it is slightly helping the way the excess gas escapes, but seems like that would have very little effect.
@ReviewThisThing

That makes sense. I think it’s the ammo and the harmonics.

I’ve read and heard that suppressors can improve bullet stability by reducing turbulence of the gasses as they come out of the barrel with the bullet. I’m not sure how accurate (no pun intended) that information is, but it kinda makes sense.

1) In my experience, suppressors always bring the POI lower. 2) I have noticed I shoot better with a suppressor due to the lack of noise concussion. I seem to be able to focus more on my shots. That may have tightened your groups up.

A full size rifle silencer will very often change POI. As for the strange impacts with the SB model, I would shoot more groups, with no suppressor, at 100 yards. Like a 10 round, slowly fired group. See if it opens up. Also, it is harder to shoot groups at 200yrds, some of the accuracy issues may have just been a little shooter error combine with the rifle maybe not liking the ammo as much.

There’s too many variables to say it’s one thing or another, but it definitely is NOT the barrel length affecting accuracy. Check the torque on everything, reconfirm the scopes are aligned properly and add a bubble level to both. I think you blame errant shots on you pulling too often and I don’t think that’s the case. You shoot enough and are in a stable enough setup that you’ll if a shot broke poorly. It is however very easy to shoot with inconsistent cant on your rifle and it can be easy to miss until you start shooting with a level and get a strong feel for how tilted the reticle should look to your eye when mounted properly to you. After all that, shoot a 10 shot group at 100 and see if the tweaks fixed it or if it’s just a load that particular gun hates. If the gun hates it then it was just a matter of crappy groups getting crappier at long range and the 3 shot group at 100 was just an unfortunate bit of good grouping luck.

Good info. For hunting I'm trying to get as much portability as I can without sacrificing accuracy. I still have a hard time getting my head around a 18" barrel. Maybe 308win would be ok, but not 6.5 creedmoor??? Feels like the shortest I'd go is 22", But Idk. A lot to consider. No suppressor in my consideration, I live in NY. Heck, I've even dabbled with the idea of a single shot cva, seems like a nice scout/brush gun in the woods and maybe 100 yards from a stand.

Some like em long, some like em short. Just depends on what you need to get the job done. As long as you know enough about balistics and powder burn and not just go off what the box says. You'll be fine. Known a few hunters that have 2 rifle same caliber. One short barrel for heavy mounain brush, and shots under 200, and a long barreled rifle, for long shots, or to get the most power out of that cartridge for larger game.

I do belive That the angled stock on your rear rest is dropping slightly with the recoil. This is magnifed at longer distance. With the suppressor reducing recoil and rearward stock movement there's less muzzle rise and movement. That's why most rifles shoot better groups suppressed. Maybe ?

It's acting like the action screws are loose. Also make sure the recoil lug is seated properly by standing tge rifle on tge butt pad when you torque the action screws. Check tgem with a wheeler fat wrench torque wrench. Also check the scope rail and rings. Next check to make sure the muzzle brake is tight. It shouldn't be shooting all over the place like that. The thinner your barrel the more point of impact shift you'll get from a suppressor changing the barrel harmonics. @@ReviewThisThing Not really. A shorter barrel is great for treestands, shooting houses, and back country hunts. There not being an accuracy difference in barrel length is a known fact. I love my 20” barreled rifles more than my 24” barreled ones. I have a 24” barreled 6.5 Creedmoor and get 2800 fps with 140 grain Accubonds. I load for a buddy’s 6.5 Creedmoor and get 2900 fps with 130 Gamechangers from a 20” barrel.

I do not like any suppressor on my rifles. Nope, none. Especially on a hunting rifle.

What don’t you like about them? I just bought my first suppressor. I haven’t received it yet and have not shot one, interested to hear why you don’t like them

@@flynnryder7798 I really dislike the "coke can" size on the end of the barrel. The back pressure and carbon buildup also isn't something I like about them. For a hunting rife, they are definitely not needed. It also changes the barrel harmonics and adds weight.

Those hornadys at over 1 moa out of your 100 yard sight ins are horrible u want smaller 3 shot groups out those hunting rifles at a hundred yards. It's not a tack rifle made expensively for prs match shooting but those cvas should be happier with some other loading

Those hundred yard sight ins for the 200 yard shooting is not wat I would have for my sight in. Dead center or half to a inch high of bulls eye

You're right. I would definitely want a much better group for the round I'm hunting with. I was surprised that we got those groups, though, because this round hasn't been one of the better performers. We just have quite a bit of it, so we need to shoot it - I think I mentioned that.

@@brandonjett16 For hunting - nope. For the purposes of this video, though, we were good.

You would need to shoot some different ammo, or precise ammo to see if there is a difference.

Absolutely! Our initial focus was on just looking at speeds and drop, so we went with a load we have plenty of. It would be interesting to see it with different loads.

@@ReviewThisThing You know what surprises me? is the ammo available off the shelf to hunt with you would think would be as accurate as possible since it possibly will be used for hunting to Kill an ANIMAL in which we do not want to suffer and want it to be a clean fast kill, Yet they give us very inaccurate anmo and charge an arm and a leg for precision/MATCH GRADE AMMO they CONSIDER to be TARGET AMMO.
