On why we didn't get this before. Consider she was a few albums in and starting the move to pop. The pain was fresh and raw and probably too much for the audience. Too personal too. The original A2W translated better to everyone who had a similar relationship. We could see ourselves there. So it was the right choice at the time. Now we can appreciate what she went through even more, esp. in the context of the other albums and her lasting relationship. Also now that she basically owns the music industry she can put out anything she wants. Celebrate it for what it is. (Awesome) Why Not Both? Indeed.
