I remembered that he was supposed to face Big E for the Intercontinental Championship back in 2014.

Bryan and Edge had 20 minute long retirement speeches or segments. For Christian they aired a minute and a half long montage and the first 40 seconds of it were about Edge! Vince deserves hell for how he treated Christian. Christian Cage is one of the greatest wrestling talents ever and he deserves much more credit than he gets.

Christian Cage deserved much better both before and after his legendary TNA run. He's still one of the very best in every way and the best heel in wrestling. He deserves an AEW World Championship reign and he deserves to always be remembered as one of the very best.

And they so kindly never told any of the fans and next time Christian showed up commentary mentioned extremely off-handedly "oh he's retired now btw lmao" One of the best wrestlers ever lost literal years of his career, being forced to sit on the shelf. Thanks, WWE.

Thanks WWE? For what sending him to a concussion doctor that forced him to retire? Were they suppose to just let him wrestle against doctors orders?
@SoundwaveSC
@SoundwaveSC Ай бұрын
@@Eureca They never let him get re-assessed. He got a bad result, and they're like "Okay, you're done forever!" Like maybe let the dude take some time off then re-assess later on? Turns out he was fine! They did the same thing to Daniel Bryan. WWE wouldn't clear him, but every doctor Bryan visited independently said he was fine. It was only when Bryan was going to leave that they gave in and let him wrestle again.
@Eureca
@Eureca Ай бұрын
@@SoundwaveSC They can't legally force anybody to not get re-assessed. That is why DB, Christian and Edge are wrestling in 2024 because they are free to find doctors that will eventually clear them. You say he was fine. He was fine years later after he went back. WWE obviously went by what the doctors told them. You are being silly if you think the WWE ever wanted any of them to retire. They didn't let them wrestle because a doctor told them they couldn't.

Like usual Vince and WWE force an INCREDIBLE talent to retire too early and ending their career. Now with Christian, Bryan, Paige, and likely Edge would have been good for a few years too, etc.

I mean, all WWE did was liosten to the doctors, I dont see anything wrong with that. After Benoit and Eddie, they dont want to have another scandal of a wrestler dying too young and it being attributed to them. I'm sure if that ever happens to AEW they'll also start to be way more cautious on who to hire.

No Edge was at risk of death from any hit. His situation was completely different than Christian. Christian could have taken a few months off and came back but Edge is a unique case of a guy rehabbing from an injury that would have ended anyone else's career.

I was just getting back into wrestling when my college house had cable, he was so good at that time and solidified him as my all time favourite. Even though being from Shelburne he was from Orangeville so that already made him my favourite.

Christian had a half decent last year within the second half of 2013 and early 2014, it just happened to be an area of the business where a ridiculous amount was going on, the roster was over-bloated, the two world titles were eventually unified... but he was always doing the best he could. He fought for the World Championship at Summerslam 2013, his last payperview match at Elimination Chamber 2014 was the main event for the Undisputed WWE World title, then his last match that year on Raw was beating a few of his best peers for a shot at the Intercontinental title.
