Really? During the first hour of his 3rd grade level explanation of leverage, I thought hey, this is a bit long....but a few hours later I decided that I would rather die than listen to this guy - so I offed myself, on the third day I was resurrected, came back here and he was still explaining how amazing it is that objects can feel heavier based upon leverage.

The _moment_ Nogueira's humerus went was my moment of awakening to who and how dangerous Frank Mir really was - the stakes had been SO high. I (let's be honest - We, meaning a shitload of people at that grave, grave moment) were left in awe at what we had just actually witnessed go down, live. That was a profound watershed moment for me in MMA.

His motocycle accident was brutal: Bone's sticking out of his leg, knee destroyed, surgeries. To go through all that then come back in and compete for 10+ years afterwards was insane. The same thing had happened to Steve Carl of WSOF and TUF fame. He had a major accident which required leg surgery, then started his mma career.

Same for Cristiano Ronaldo, he once fell of his bicycle when going to the store and broke his fingernail from locking his bike. He needed 3 weeks of therapy but right after, he went straight back to diving in football again! What a champ!

I had a severely fractured dislocated elbow with little hope of a full recovery. Depression and hopelessness followed. The story Frank's motorcycle accident, recovery and his mental attitude gave me the inspiration to stand up and work towards a full recovery.

@@siggetrygger1476 in excess of 100 physio sessions, hours of stretching in a hot bath. Then moved on to VERY light weights (2 lbs max) then the rowing machine and then swimming. From there onto a strengthning and stabilization programme. It took two full years before regained range of motion and do my first push-ups and pull-ups.

It’s crazy to see how effortlessly he rolls for such a huge human. As an American I was proud of Frank for getting the better of Big Nog in Jujitsu. I still won’t watch the replays and watching it live I was jumping up and down when Frank started coming back but covered my face when I seen the arm snap. @@peteypablo9488o be fair, the fact that it broke at the humerus means the shoulder and elbow were holding up. You normally feel when to tap from pressure at the joint. Rotational pressure on the humerus, I would imagine doesn’t feel like much. That being said, as a BJJ master, he should know when a submission is sunk.

Nog said he was going to tap out Mir in the pre fight hype. Nog basically knocked Mir out but he wanted to submit him to prove a point. So he took it to the ground and let Mir recover. He got what he earned.

Frank Mir is my all time fav MMA submission artists. The way we train; it gets into our head to give the guy time to tap. Unfortunately, some MMA opponents take advantage of the small space to escape. Frank, without being malicious, always put the sub on with full intent to finish.... or let go if there was a tap.

Have to agree with Frank about a torn rotator cuff. I just injured mine and the damn thing won't heal. It's been three months now and the pain still keeps me up at night.

It took me an entire year to heal Mine. But I didn’t stop bjj or my construction job. Approximately 2000$ I’m physiotherapy sessions too. It’s a really painful and tough injury to get over. Imo when you feel you’re about 75-80% you should carefully start body weight strength training again - especially pull-ups. That’s what really helped me get back

@@JK-uo3pd Besides the pain, I keep having muscle spasms. It'll just light up for a few seconds and go crazy, then stop as suddenly as it came on. The spasms don't hurt, but if you're sleeping it's like someone knocking you on the shoulder waking you up. Adds to the sleep deprivation.

@thomas S Definitely consult with and work with a physiotherapist. Reduce as much inflammatory foods in your diet as possible (always important really) Stick with the doctors program and you should come out alright. I didn’t sleep a full night for 7 months. I would wake up at 3am after the inflammation set in and that would be it. I tried 10mg of melatonin before bed and that did help to keep me in a deeper sleep. IMS needlework and shock therapy. I did everything I could to avoid surgery due to the 6 month down time and no Garunteed 100% recovery. Best of luck. It can be beaten.

@@JK-uo3pd Thanks. Being a veteran I have good access to medical care. Already being treated with OTC drugs and exercises the doc gave me. Seems to be going okay. It's just remarkable how long this injury has lasted. Surgery is the last option for me. I recon I'll do the whole year and see where it goes.
