Catch seems to be a lot more simplified than BJJ. I feel that BJJ overcomplicates a lot of moves and submissions when they can easily be straight forward.

In an Interview years ago; the late Judo Gene Le Bell said the Gracie/BJJ are using old wrestling holds in their style.

It's all Japanese my friend Submissions come from Japanese Jiu jitsu/Judo. You're going to try and say with a straight face that Billy Riley taught Japanese Submissions Lol! These guys fully know that Lancashire Catch Wrestling has never had Submissions. Hell even Shane Rigby one of the last legit submission wrestlers still around. Shane told me none of this Catch stuff works in grappling or MMA competition! If you don't know who Shane Rigby is he basically went to Japan with Roy and trained with Sakuraba in the 1990s. That was for pro wrestling yes! Shane in his prime would whoop any of these "Certified Catch Coaches"! When Fakepit Wigan are selling certifications to become a "certified Catch wrestler" for £500 that's Mcdojo bs!

To each its own rules, but a cursory look across most grappling styles reveals that the top game takes primacy. And I know it's their thing, but considering the world grappling community at large, the guard game is fetishized in BJJ.
