I used to think stretch denim was a bad thing, until I got a pair of Duluth double flex jeans, they are the longest lasting I have had, instead of tearing holes where I carry my knife and gun, it just stretches with the movement.
@RLSteffler4 ай бұрын
It's much stronger if made with polyester or nylon, just cotton and elastane doesn't last very long

I agree, I’ve got two pairs of Duluth doubles, and a pair of Naked and Famous that I’ve blown the crotch out of. My only issue with stretch is they’re hot.

Interesting that this didn't show up in my feed. Also really interested in your take on The Danner 1932 Collection. I think what they're doing there is amazing and deserves some exposure. Also, that flannel looks round up worthy 😂

Carl, make you to also apply some lotion . Worked under the beard, to moisturize the skin under. The beard actually is functional as it protects your face (natural workwear). But you still need to take care of the skin under. I just recently moved from CT to Mexico City to work a project in one of our factories. It’s decent flannel’sh weather. Those light blazers are cool.

Been eyeing the Benzak chinos for awhile cause i like the satin finish and their fits. The updates they are making made me go out and buy a pair of the old ones before i couldnt get them anymore. For me personally I like the leather patch and the chambray pockets on the old version.

Can’t wait for the flannel round-up! When you check out the Relwen blazer, I’d be interested in what you think of the fit. I tried on the Flint and Tinder jacket (I know, different brand, but same site), and the arms were too long while the shoulders/chest felt tight. This is a recurring theme in men’s heritage fashion, but it doesn’t mean I like it…I’m all for a trimmer look -just give us something for those who work with our backs and shoulders. As always, I look forward to the show!

Its weird that so many brands started doing the whole "trim torso" thing, but I guess thats the way most guys prefer things now. I've totally written off Taylor Stitch because of their odd fit!

I wasnt so sure i liked freenote cloth from what id seen online. Felt like a lot of it was a bit too western style for me, but I was lucky enough to go to their recent sample sale and their stuff is super nice in person. Really loved the duster pants. Lots of different little details than ive seen on other pants. As far as the iron heart duck canvas, loved it when i saw it, but not enough to make me spend that much on it, maybe if they had a western cut. Im actually looking to buy the fenceline duck canvas shirt from iron and resin though its unfortunately imported.

I ordered a pair of Benzak chinos based on your review! I went with the tapered fit, and like that they are 10 oz, compared to the 8 oz chinos I typically wear. Their sizing seems odd in terms of measured vs. The labelled size, but otherwise look nice. Euro pricing was still “in the ballpark” if not a little expensive. If they fit without looking too much like workwear, while being a bit heavier I will be happy. Thanks for introducing me on to a new brand!

Stretch is swell (for those who like it), the "problem" is that such fabrics serious complicate any hope of recycling the material once we're done with it. 100% cotton will do the world a bit better. Just another thing to think about.
@matthewsbernier4 ай бұрын
I think a lot of guys are imagining yoga pants, or perhaps the spongier, cheaper stretch denims when they picture stretch duck. And so did I. But I've been cutting wood in a new pair of Carhartts I got at Renys here in Maine, that happened to have stretch. My observations so far are: The fabric is very dense. It turns away blackberry canes, and doesn't snag. I can walk right through rose bushes and not get caught. They're very abrasion resistant. I've done a lot of rock moving in them, and scratchy granite doesn't bug them much. The fabric feels very stiff and stout.I really only notice the stretch at the extremity of a movement, I have a tiiiiny bit of give, like falling with a kernmantle climbing rope vs. a rigid bull line. I'd encourage guys to try a pair and see what they really think.

How could you be so wrong!?! Beanie shades is quite possibly the single greatest invention since the advent of the cellular telecommunications device! I’m just saying, this could be the thing that heals the ever growing rifts in our society. I’m actually waiting on them to go up in price because I don’t feel comfortable ripping off the inventors who are obviously charging too small a sum for such an incredible product. I suppose if a broken clock can be right twice a day, the inverse would have to be true as well, Carl can be wrong once in a while. Hope you chuckled as much reading this as I did typing it.

On the topic of beard trimmer... I'm a bit sick of the trend of using built in batteries in things that work perfectly well with a cord. It limits the usable time(nothing worse than your trimmer running out of battery half way through), increases the weight, and decreases the lifespan before needing replacement. I use a Wahl 5 Star Professional Detail Trimmer. It will last a lifetime, is light in your hand, and works fantastically. Expensive for a corded trimmer, but I will never need to buy another one.
@CoffeeWithCarl14 ай бұрын
That was one of the ones my barber recommended. I like the cord-free life, but i agree that it comes with drawbacks.
@iancameron14954 ай бұрын
@@CoffeeWithCarl1 I think if your a barber and having to walk around someone, the cord would get annoying, but I've never had a problem in the bathroom with the plug by the sink. I was actually really surprised how little I missed the cordlessness. Don't get me wrong, I'll take a battery over a cord on my drill any day of the week. Side Note: batteries are expensive... Wahl makes a battery version of that same trimmer for $100CAD more!

Carl, I love your channel except for one aspect. You present some very cool products but you seem to exclusively feature $2-400 shirts and jeans and $5-1000 jackets. Some are amazing, some are very goofy, but most are too expensive. I'm surprised that as an electrician you wouldn't be tuned into companies like Diamond Gusset and All American which produce denim, Canvas and Chinos, almost entirely under $100 entirely made in USA. They make various shirts and jackets that are fantastic for working man money and they aren't frilly or pre destroyed like some of the $500 garments you present.
@CoffeeWithCarl14 ай бұрын
I certainly dont mind lower cost options, but those would fall under the "workwear" category. My own (dubious) definition is that workwear prioritizes value and durability over style, and thus usually doesnt change much. Wrangler may be the best bet for that kind of thing since they can offer really low prices thanks to their sales volume. Brands like Diamond Gusset or Ben Davis don't really change much, so I try to keep my eye on new and exciting things to talk about.
@renangaidheal13204 ай бұрын
I think that Relwen is trying to talk to dudes like you, and I get the appeal. But what crap, albeit not poorly made. Think leisure suits in the '70s: an idea that couldn't be any worse today than it was then. This blazer will make you look like a guy in a nylon jacket when you could be upping your game (just a little), wear an actual, decent blazer, and god forbid wear a decent tie. Get a simple blue blazer and try a button-down for a toned down look. This Ivy style uniform no longer suggests any of that elitism. (Small tip: collars on 100% cotton dress shirts will shrink as much as a full size or more with washing. Size up and iron the shirt damp, the collar will stretch back.)
@CoffeeWithCarl14 ай бұрын
Ugh, leisure suits... Thankfully I went through a period of collecting good ties, but I still dont like wearing them at all.
@renangaidheal13204 ай бұрын
@@CoffeeWithCarl1 yes, exactly my point...that this Relwen is the leisure suit equivalent. It's looks something like an idea and it must not become one.
