I'm in Louisiana, it's been the hottest November on record, that's not political, it's the facts. Trees still are green and leaves have not dropped. Last year was the dryest year on record and we were working a bunch of wildfires that we normally don't get. Those are the facts of the matter. Don't care why, can't change it, getting angry won't change anything. Facts are facts regardless of what you believe. Listening to climate scientists about the climate isn’t too dissimilar to listening to you about boots, flannels, work wear in general, etc. Most of us concede the fact that you’ve done the work and the research to be able to give us an informed opinion on certain things. And we’ve come to trust that opinion, even though some of those opinions are inherently biased. And most of us should trust that climate scientists have done the work and done the research, and use the evidence of our own eyes, to confirm the planet is warming. Failing to do so because you don’t want to believe what you’re being told is, frankly, a bit silly. And I say this from a place of love Carl, but talking about a contentious issue is going to result in people responding with passionate responses. That’s why the old saying “you don’t walk politics or religion in polite company” exists. Because the conversation always ends up contentious.
@Newspeak.8 күн бұрын
Well said, also we all take scientists word on all sorts of things we don't even think about day to day. This should be a completely uncontroversial topic that has nothing to do with politics. It impacts all of us and will touch every aspect of life. But a wealthy few stand to gain even more money by putting their thumb on the scale to stop any meaningful change from happening and those same folks push propaganda that has regular folks 2nd guessing something thats well understood and not really up for debate.
@SamSam-jf1nj7 күн бұрын
The government and scientists have been pushing fear for decades now. It use to be called Global warming years ago and now it’s climate change. How many times have they said the earth would come to a end at a certain date and it hasn’t happened yet. Look at Greta Thunberg she was wrong. Look at the pandemic and the fear they pushed then said if you get the shot you can’t catch the virus then they changed that tune quick because they were wrong. If people are so worried about “climate change” stop buying cheap polyester and nylon clothes which is causing the micro plastic problem. Why are we throwing away plastic forks and spoons and to go container after a single use. Wash it and reuse it. You pay for Tupperware and don’t throw it away after 1 time. Our problem is we want everything quick and pay cheap for it then complain about quality. People don’t want to save money and have lost patience. They don’t want to pay for quality and want everything now now now.

I think the Iron Heart looks a little bit better but I like the materials of the Heat Straps better. Fortunately I’m not in need so that saves that tough choice. I like the White’s 350 Cruiser but I just don’t think the greens for me in my boots, I’m just too boring I guess. Strange move for Dickies but I guess it makes sense moving the smaller company closer to the big company flagpole, though you’re 100% about not hearing many stories of businesses moving to California. I used to wear a lot of their products cause I figured if I was going to totally ruin clothes, it’s better to ruin cheap stuff. Keep doing your channel how you want to. The people who make comments like that are generally the type who can't hold a debate without getting frustrated and angry which generally leads to their argument falling apart. Not worth the time of entertaining them. I think all channels deal with this. Fortunately 99% of us love your content and I agree, the warmer weather was great for getting things done this fall. On the flip side, I believe it stays colder longer in the spring in my area (upstate NY) so there's that. Oh yeah and Truman is going to disappoint a lot of us with this move. They basically own the niche market of unique leather boots. It would be a shame to see them move away from it. Keep up the awesome content Carl! We appreciate it!

@BWM1357 күн бұрын
@CoffeeWithCarl1 if you think it through, this has to be a leverage play. He posted at the beginning of October the company had already beaten its sales from last year. Of course they had multiple months last year where they weren't selling anything, so there's that. I am no doubt he's disappointed in the slow growth rate. Plus, it sounds like he had an argument with the CF Stead distributor that he uses, hence the talk of no more Rambler models. Shutting down or changing everything makes no sense when you've just relocated and spent a ton of money on a new factory, and all the machines needed to do Goodyear welting, sewing, and all the other necessary steps. Truman makes a solid boot, and perhaps most importantly they're able to do it very quickly and efficiently with the least amount of hand work of any of the PNW brands. Plus the surcharge for higher end leathers they ask is borderline absurd. Their basic boot is $400, waxed flesh is effectively a $100 option for a materials cost delta that might be $10 and is likely considerably less. On a per boot basis I would imagine their profit margins are outstanding. I see no way they can move up market. If changes are coming, it would be a move into Red Wing and Wolverine price territory. I personally have no answers to the question of how they would go about doing that without cannibalizing their current products. What to do when you're frustrated and don't see a clear path forward? Get mad, throw a public tantrum, and tell everyone things be changing. No promises have been made. Worst case scenario, you've got publicity, and we know what they say about bad versus good, and now you're stagnant brand has some hype behind it, coming off a recent favorable Rose Anvil review. So what if you upset your customers who recently bought in to your new loyalty program? Those guys aren't going anywhere. All you did was create a way to give yourself a temporary spike in sales during the busiest time of the year. Pretty brilliant all in all, if a bit tasteless. I'll be happy to down my plate of crow cold if I'm wrong, I feel pretty strongly that's not the case. Just my thoughts, feel free to add or pile on, or flame away! Happy Thanksgiving!

I think people have a tendency to get upset about anything that reminds them of climate change because it's an existential threat to their lives in the longterm. They're also frustrated that greedy politicians aren't doing anything about it while taking huge amounts of money from the petroleum and automotive industries. I know you haven't done any research on it, but you're a smart guy and the science behind climate change is so simple a third grader could understand it. The atmosphere keeps in heat because it has gasses that trap heat. More of those gasses = more heat trapped = warmer weather. Two of those major gasses are carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide, released by automobiles and factory farming. Huge industrial plants also release a lot of greenhouse gasses, likely more than the other two sources. Climate change is bad and we're causing it, but you are not an appropriate target for people's anger just because you're liking the warmer weather... Greedy politicians are.

I'm not sure how or why Grant Stone named this boot the Baroda but that is, of course, the name of a city in Rajasthan, India. (Baroda is the old colonial pronunciation, the local folk call the town Vadodara.) Perhaps they had Jodhpur in mind? Baroda isn't that far from Jodhpur----so maybe both boots inspired by the British colonial army in India? Just a guess. Also, perhaps the Dickie's workforce would prefer to live in a State that supports women's healthcare choices? That is a choice I would make for my family.

Bro yeah like others are saying. Those are literally haters or somewhat crazy people. I'm not just saying that because I don't agree with them but how they react to you makes it obvious. You don't have to change anything about what you said, you only upset people that are looking for reasons to be upset with you. You can't change that

Im thinking that the "market" that Truman's lifestyle leather's is entering LGQBT or whichever order the letters belong. That was the first thing that popped into my head. Just like Harley backed out if the "woke" culture and others have done in recent times. Been a viewer and fan for long time Carl and never commented before but keep on keeping on and ignore the people who insert their politics into anything.

About the comments, ignore stupid ones, whether they be related to products shown or side tangents. Don't hold your tongue for the sake of fools.
