Valleys are like a major trope for the ace combat series. You haven't reached the halfway point unless you suffered flying in a valley. You use them to avoid getting blown up by weird scifi weapons, stealth, or chasing badguys

well with how heavily AI gets abused in Strangereal I figured the searchlights were connected to cameras and if you interrupted the beam, the camera would snap, AI would process the image and if it's not an aircraft belonging to the base, it raises the alarm. And if it DOES belong to the base the pilot gets NJP'd. Radar WOULD make more sense but Cape Rainy doesn't seem like it's a very important base to the Eruseans.

I've had this game sitting in my library for quite a while. Finally, I got around to playing it after setting my hotas up to work with it. It was surprisingly fun. Kind of reminded me of the Rogue Squadron ground missions.

i remember there being a community challenge to do this mission as fast as possible with the dlc version of the F/A-18E that had the maverick paint scheme i think you'd also like project wingman, it's like a post post apocalyptic flight game, like ace combat on crack

@@guts-141 I've beaten the game twice. There's some good missions here and then, but overall story-wise it's mostly a slog that's not very entertaining unless the person reacting is the person playing.

You should also see the DLC missions,or the missions from old ace combats,maybe from ace combat the Belkan war,since they used real actors for the in game interviews,and they even do something cool on the 6th of June 1995

In Ace Combat, most of the time, you have a canyon/valley/mountains mission, low altitude/radar detection mission, high altitude mission, tunnel/get inside facilities mission and destroy a giant futuristic weapon mission. We love those clichés.

The thing about Ace Combat is that it’s always been this weird shoot em up Japanese arcade game with jets really just being used as the backdrop. Which I’m fine with. Let me hop into an F-14 Tomcat and strap friggin laser beams onto it. The spotlights definitely are just lasers that effectively melt your jet and end the mission. Fun game nonetheless. Just that the whole realism aspect goes out the window. DCS is the way to go I think if someone is looking for some level of realism.

Honestly when i watched TG:M it always made me think of the "Valley of the Kings" mission in Ace Combat Zero more. I have wondered where the writers got the inspiration for that scene because i can think of three different things that it could be: 1. Obviously Star Wars: A New Hope comes to mind. 2. "Valley of the Kings/Zero" from Ace Combat Zero. 3. I heard "Slammer" Richardson talk about a strike mission over Montenegro where a combined F-14/F-18 force had to put bombs through an air vent to destroy underground hangers where fighters that were harassing the Kosovo peacekeepers were stored... And the Tomcats were buddy lazing for the Hornets because the Tomcats had a higher magnification level on the designator pod than the Hornets.

I will admit, I love the Ace Combat series. Yes, realism is kinda right out the window, but certainly looks great and is a fun arcade type game, kinda like Afterburner II from back in the day. The look on Mover's face is almost like just pure distain while watching these videos, which is hysterical. It would be awesome to make Mover and Gonky play through the entire game.

I like the mission where you do the Canyon Run using that mission with many different types of planes is very challenging. I have one question when you have to scramble to get your plane in the air can you skip certain startup procedures or do you preset the procedures before take off??????🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

So I bought the Ace Combat 7 after I watched all of your Ace combat videos, I implemented the real world tactics in multiplayer mode, keep lorbing meteor, phoenix and hypersonic missiles 10000m away then full after burner to escape, if someone caught up on me I just do the low altitude flying through the rocks and mountains to evade the lock and missiles, I score so many kills and they hated me.

Other iterations had AA/SAM emplacements in the canyon missions. Part that always bugged me with this mission is you're supposed to be "stealth" in a loud jet fighter in a small canon. If the operators running those searchlights weren't deaf before this mission they were after you passed by.

Well - I can confirm in Ace Combat 6 if you hit the wall, or the ground, you die, or at least solidly hit it - did that more than once trying to fly through the underground hanger areas on one mission or misjudging where I was on some others. Part of me also wants to see reactions to some of the stuff in Warthunder now that they have more modern aircraft/versions of them and are adding AIM-120's and foreign counterparts to the game.

Gotta play the AC5 mission where you dogfight in a series of canyons and get shot by SAMs if you go above the rim. And that was the early 2000s

Yeah, the game does have music, and it is often better than the radio chatter in ACE7, should turn the music volume up in the settings, specially for mission 19 "Operation Daredevil".

Ace combat 4 is the best one although it has a similar mission but in daylight conditions with enemy fighters on the way to bomb the air base and once over the airfield there's AK-AK,sam batteries,and enemy fighters to contend with. Also there's another mission where you have to fly through a canyon to get to the engagement area and a donut shaped canyon where if you either chase down or meet head on enemies in "superior fighters". Ace Combat 4 has the best BGM there is though plus you can turn down the whining pilot chatter. I do have Ace Combat 7 though but 4 is my favorite

"Shut it!" Honestly, I agree, Ace Combat has too much extra dialogue during the missions. If the NPCs would actually relay pertinent information, that's one thing, but it's always extra chatter or random story tidbits shoehorned in for no good reason.
