My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. kzbin.infoUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!

Nice how to. My question is about the Helix PD storage when the OS Pod has a Fish Finder mounted on it. Is there a bracket to protect the Fish Finder head when the PD is pushed forward? I'd hate to crack the screen.

the drive looks like the pilot drive, make sure the prop does not move in place, add those washers before selling the drive

Used this vid to do install on Radar115, thumbs up! Made assembly much easier than just reading instructions. Like smaller size of this drive compared to others on the market, easy transport. Swapped out pedals for aftermarket platform pedals with sealed bearings. Other than that, very happy with the Helix PD.

Have one on order for my new Radar 135 but still have questions: 1) What are your sacrificial parts (ie. shear pin?) if unit sustains an at-speed impact from debris, oyster bed, sand bar etc.? A lot of leverage can be applied to hull and drive system otherwise... 2) Now that I've already mounted a battery and transducer to the forward pod I see that the pedal drive will interfere with the display head when stowed. Suggestions from the designers? P.S. love the boat! A+

BarkBusteR9 My Radar 135 should be arriving any day now, hopefully with the Pedal Drive. I plan on mounting my fish finder on one of the slide tracks and still keeping the battery in the flex pod with transducer mounted on the bottom of it.

The description of the reverse threads is wrong. First of all, both of the cranks appeared to tighten by having the bolt turned clockwise, as a normal thread is, so either apparently is reverse threaded. The left pedal is indeed reverse threaded, which meant that the bolt needed to be rotated counter clockwise to tighten it, but the guy said he was turning it clockwise, even though he proceeded to turn it counter clockwise as he tightened it.
@jrwill586 жыл бұрын
I noticed the same thing. The one pedal is reverse threaded so one doesn't unscrew their pedal as they ride (or pedal) There is no reason to attach the crank arm in such a manner. I got tickled when he said it must be tightened in a clockwise direction, then proceeded to tighten in a "COUNTERclockwise" direction. Anyway...good for a smile.

Too bad they don't tell you the PD drive may not come pre-greased!!! Mine didn't and started making lots of noise. Peddles squeaking too. If you get this system. grease the peddles and the drive system.

I guess you are screwed if you want to add pedals and the kayak is not designed for drop in pedals?

Disadvantages of the design of the pedal drive: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l17GnHqPpqynhKc I’ve used the R135 with PD since 2018. It’s been used in fresh water no more than 15 times in the past season, and then put in a kayak for winter storage in a dry garage. Preparing for the new season, I wanted to upgrade the pedal drive to increase speed by replacing the gears with the best gear ratio. So I screwed the pedal to get acquainted with the gears. I was surprised and unimpressed by the gearshift of the lower pedal gearbox. This gearbox is immersed in the water while in motion and is located immediately next to the screw. It turns out that the gears were flooded with water and as a result they rusted. Therefore, it is an obvious factory defect from the manufacturer - the joints of the elements of the case are not tight. Now it is understood that the design in this mission requires regular review of the subject for detection of leakage. Therefore, I recommend the owners of pedal driven kayaks, to be sure to check the condition of the lower gear, especially before prolonged storage of the boat after the end of the season. To disassemble this node is not difficult, even a child can deal with it. It is necessary to remove the cover by twisting only four screws. If you find rust, carefully remove it with special fluids, such as a solution of orthophosphoric acid. After that, I advise you to replace the rubber seals and add more lubricant to the gear.

I am beyond frustrated right now. Trying to install the rudder kit, and the rivet nuts for the rudder lift cable guides were not installed properly. Then, whoever installed the keeper screws that come in the rivet nuts from the factory was apparently too slow to realize that the screws were only going in about 3/4 of a turn, and tightened them anyways, resulting in two of the rivet nuts having damaged threads. You'll be hearing from me Monday, Wilderness Systems. So much for trying out my new yak tomorrow. Part of me wants to blame the guy who installed the rivet nuts, but this is a quality control issue. Was he even trained properly? Does anybody go behind and check his work? This kind of quality control failure seems to be the norm these days.

You didn't tighten the crank bolts enough! They need to be TIGHT. If they ever loosen while pedaling the holes will get rounded out and then you will NEVER be able to tighten them so they don't move again. NEVER! I have had bikes loosen like that and i could never get them tight again. Ruins the crank and crank arms.

Bought a radar 135 and it came installed with the helix drive and rudder already. Only issue I noticed is that the steering isn't straight, slightly askew with straight being at the 1 o'clock position. Tried to straighten the rudder control and adjust the rudder cables on the back end as the solution. Used the appropriate hex screw tool to loosen to adjust and spins in place, they seem to not loosen grip on the cables. Is there a trick to loosening those or as you warned, is it over tightened and that's the issue?

So I bought the 115 and my question is, do you need to purchase and install the Rudder control tubes on a 115? I saw on a different wilderness systems video the installation of the tube.Does the 115 come with the tubes? Or do I have too install.
@offshore-paddlingwarehouse7 жыл бұрын
The rudder cable tubes are already built into the boat. You just have to feed the cable into them, as per the video.

@ScuffedThumbZFishing7 жыл бұрын
I turned it off when the first thing I read was you need a lighter and 10 other tools. Seriously?
@jarvisrinklebaker54507 жыл бұрын
Scuffed ThumbZ Fishing if you want be capable of jobs in a diy fashion, 10 tools is child's play. I looked at the tools used in this video and couldn't help but notice the rust on the #2 Phillips bit as well as the general low quality of all of the tools. I'd venture to say my tool collection could easily include thousands of tools. I don't want to rely on anyone else if I don't have to when I need to build or fix something.
@ScuffedThumbZFishing7 жыл бұрын
Jarvis Rinklebaker yes but u shouldnt pay $2700 and have work to do. I use tools but i get paid to use them not pay them to use them.
@jarvisrinklebaker54507 жыл бұрын
Scuffed ThumbZ Fishing hmm.. yeah I'm doubting your a technician of any kind who is paid to use tools. If you were a tech of any kind, your opinion on the relationship between price and need to assemble would be more like mine.
@ScuffedThumbZFishing7 жыл бұрын
Jarvis Rinklebaker so its ok to pay $2700 on it and put it together if your a technition? Hmmmmm seems like it would limit your sales when my old town predator pdl came fully assembled for the same price. Im just sayin most consumers dont want to put shit together they want to fish.
@jarvisrinklebaker54507 жыл бұрын
Scuffed ThumbZ Fishing perhaps the company went in thinking they could be profitable by selling a fully assembled rig. I'd be curious about what you paid, versus what they are charging now for the boat plus pedal drive. As a person who has spent more than two decades as a technician/mechanic/repair guy/diy guy etc... the assembly shown here looks beyond simple and a person like me would actually have fun and enjoy assembling it.
