CX-5 Choice | Mazda CX-5 Carbon Edition vs Premium

What's your choice of the 2024 Mazda CX-5 Carbon Edition vs Premium? These vehicles have the same powertrain and same dimensions. There are only a few differences.
The CX-5 Carbon Edition comes in Polymetal Gray exterior and the choice of Black leather or Red leather. It has the right equipment with leather, moonroof, dual power seats, Bose premium sound, 19" gloss black wheels, and a power rear lift gate.
The Premium adds heated side mirrors, color-keyed lower bumpers and wheel arches, SiriusXM satellite radio, and upgraded Signature headlights and taillights that are adaptive.
Both of the vehicles in this video have several Mazda accessories including the roof rails and crossbars. They are about $2300 different in price. That shrinks to $1700 when you don't count the $595 Rhodium White Premium paint charge.

I always thought the painted cladding would make it look better, but the black cladding breaks up the side profile for the better in my opinion. The painted white cladding makes the white CX-5 look too fat or bulky. Maybe it looks better in person or better in another color.

Hi Jonathan, for 2025 CX-5, would you happen to know if all non-turbo trims have cylinder deactivation and i-stop? Mazda's website press release for the 2025 model mentions it as "available" for the Base S trim, but there's also a PDF on Mazda USA's site that shows cylinder deactivation starting with the 2.5 S Carbon Edition middle trim (internet search "2025 CX-5 spec deck"). Is there a way to determine if a specific listing has cylinder deactivation/i-stop when browsing dealerships for the 2025 model? Thanks for all the Mazda updates!

Hi Jonathan! I bought recently Mazda CX-5 im Europe - 2.5 with Takumi trim level (highest trim with everything inclueded). It is a fantastic car and I would recommend it to everyone. I have one question: is there possibility to check average speed on trip computer? I tried to find it but unsuccesssfully. I dorve earlier generation of Mazda CX-5 (2015, with fantastic 2.2 diesel with 175 ps and 420 Nm, 6 speed manual), which had average speed data. Thank you for amswer and keep going with great and useful videos about Mazdas!

body-colored cladding looks worse to me in every color. It's really a shame that you have to pay up to the third trim level to get it on the CX-5 whereas the CX-30 and CX-50 both have WAY too much cladding

Like your content ,wanted to get a CX 5 in 22 but ended up getting a 2024 Honda crv hybrid sport touring ed last year but I really want that cx5 premium platinum quartz don’t know if I should get the 2025 or wait till the 2026 as you mentioned before on your other vid there might be changes to it . 🫡 from LA

don't wait too long cause those transmissions will not last mine has 77000 on it and already trans went out of course outside the 60000 mile warranty
