CX500 Build

I picked up this 1981 CX500 in Gastonia, NC for $130.
I had to drag it out of the woods, which was a real pain.
I began the little bike make over and I think she turned out great.

Hey just a little tip when putting on the grips, use rubbing alcohol instead of wd-40 because it evaporates fairly quickly and won’t leave a mess :)

The same thing happened to me too when I inherited my CX500! I thought it was a 1978, and I looked up (in the same spot you did) when I was scrubbing the headlight and discovered it’s a ‘79! My dad has been thinking it was a ‘78 for decades! Hahaha!

I have an "82 CX 500 with 40+ original miles up here in Maine, always garaged, it's got a Honda fairing and bags as well, probably too much for this one. Was going to give it to my Grandson but will give him my Triumph instead and maybe sell the CX. I've always thought it would make a great cafe bike, so thanks for this video.

Great build! Currently working on a CX500 myself. Did you end up welding the hoop on to the frame and adding a crossbar to support the seat?

Hi, yes I had to weld it to hold better. I didn't get that on film however.
