Nope, I’m here from SiIvaGunner. :p Honestly, most of the tracks here could pass for instrumental versions of Phil Collins songs. I’ve got no idea *what* they were actually going for with this soundtrack. 0__o
@mijnordna3 жыл бұрын
@@tdark987 Since I wrote the music, I’ll enlighten you a bit… When I wrote these pieces I wasn’t looking at the game, I was looking at the backgrounds, which were all pastoral scenes, and my direction was to write to them and not worry about the game at all. Also, having just done the 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' video game for Disney (and having to compress my tracks down to 4, 3, 2, and 1 voices for that project) I was thrilled to be working in a format with NO restrictions. And, although I liked Phil Collins, my real influence at the time was David Foster. Very noticeable in some of the tracks.
@tdark9873 жыл бұрын
@@mijnordna Thanks for explaining - it makes a whole lot more sense now that I understand the thinking behind it. And very nice job too on the music itself. :-) It’s really quite astonishing how many bad, mediocre or just plain forgotten games have great soundtracks. Just an aside, but your comment about restrictions is interesting. It seems like there were two distinct ways game composers reacted to the switch to CD audio around the mid 90s; there were those who seized it as an opportunity to show their full potential, and those who seemed to almost lose their footing from the sheer amount of possibilities it’d suddenly opened up (some opted to stick with synths and MIDI-style track composition well into the PS1 era; e.g. Uematsu and the FF 7/8/9 soundtracks).

1. Tetris CD-I soundtrack, says it in the name, ya cretin. The composer is actually in this comment section 2. I guess it's kinda like smooth jazz or something. Basically Easy Listening music. this ain't vaporwave, vaporwave is sample-based, and takes alot of inspiration from Easy Listening music from around this time (80s-90s). 3. Maybe, maybe not. It's Tetris CD-I, from what I've heard it's one of the better CD-I games, and has a really soothing aesthetic. It has a few game design issues, like as you play, it's split up into levels to change scenery, but it leads to a really annoying loading screen in between, which isn't great for Tetris, which you typically want no interruptions so you can keep focus. There also isn't any in-game noises for the blocks, which is a bit strange, and might harm gameplay a bit. Also, it probably isn't worth getting a CD-I for this, just emulate it. 4. Maybe, maybe not. Probably not frankly, it's not like you're gonna see people playing obscure(-ish) Tetris games much, especially when they're pratically all the same 5. You've probably heard alot of music like this, it's easy listening stuff, which appears in alot of settings to relax the people there. Also in alot of TV Shows and Movies too. But you probably haven't heard THIS before.

If you stuck this onto a vaporwave album, I think it'd fit in perfectly. I almost get a sense of false nostalgia when listening to it; particularly, a memory of life in the 90s, even though I was actually born in 2000. That vibe makes it amazing to listen to, and if KZbin still had star ratings on videos, this would get a 5 star from me.
