*From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel. I aspired to the purity of the blessed machine. Your kind cling to your flesh, as if it will not decay and fail you. One day the crude biomass you call a temple will wither, and you will beg my kind to save you.* *But I am already saved. For the machine is IMMORTAL.*

Weirdly well timed, my mystic just got himself a scarification design from a Kuthite(were running through signal of screams) on sunday. Actually, the whole party got them done. Augments really add another layer of flavor to starfinder and the sheer variety of augments makes it really fun to tinker and experiment with. One of my favorites is the growth glands biotech augment.(AP#29, threefold conspiracy book 5). Simply put, you hulk out. It allows you to grow by one size category for a short time. Really want to play a dragonkin that can grow to 30ft tall when he feels like being extra intimidating... about as close to playing an actual dragon as you can get.

I really enjoy these topics. Focusing on what it means to be human/mortal/sentient and the way that these conversations break the minds (or simply cause anger) of the anti-augment community.

Great video again. As someone who used to be into cyberpunk 2020 with heavily augmented characters, I have hardly used them in Starfinder yet, I find the playable species and classes soo interesting in Starfidner I just haven't gone down the augmentation road yet, but seeing your video think it's time to look into them more.

My favorite real life body mod is implanting a rare earth magnet under the skin of your ring finger so that you can feel electric currents.

"One side likes modification, and one side doesn't" that sounds like a really one sided fight waiting to happen. What are the anti-augmentation crowd going to do to stop the pro-augmentation crowd from turning their arms into swiss army knives and reinforcing their skeletons with actuated titanium bone sheathes? One side can punch a hole through three inches of concrete with no effort the other side are wet bags of farts that die if the composition of the air they breathe has even 4% chlorine added to it.

I would say its less about to augment or not to augment* (necrografts excluded) its more about how much one should augment.
@commiedeer2 жыл бұрын
Not really. The Starfinder tech level means its not too hard to get EMP and armor piercing weapons or at least SHOULDN'T be too hard to get those weapons.
@MisterZimbabwe2 жыл бұрын
@@commiedeer Electronics can be shielded from EMPs by mundane or magical means though, and those that are chromed and wired to the gills are generally going to have cybernetically enhanced target acquisition, tracking and telemetric data processing that will make a battle with baseliners a complete curbstomp.

@@MisterZimbabwe "Generally" my ass. The player character is NOT an average person so what the player can have access to is not a fair assessment of what's available to the average person. I'm not wasting any more of my time with this. This conversation merely shows why cyber-psychosis and essence loss need to remain a thing in games that have cybernetics.
@AlphaOmega12372 жыл бұрын
It's not like this needs to come to genocidal war. There are plenty of opposing political movements that have existed simultaneously without needing to wipe each other out. Even if it does come to blows, the average augmented solder isn't gonna have access to all the equipment needed to counter every vulnerability. At the end of the day, a mech is still a mech, whether you're chromed or not. There's plenty of ways to level the playing field.

Though the correction is pointless to make, masochists would be the ones to enjoy the varied scarification rituals. Masochists are the ones who like to receive and feel pain, sadists prefer to give unto others said pain.
