I bought the book. Its a decent book for advanced GM's and beyond if you like to spends loads of time in preparation of your ports as you need to still flash out everything but a a layout of a port, some npc, descriptions of locations geography, residents, society, relations religions, conflicts and threats, 10 hooks and 10 feats. (Anduwar, p34,Starfinder; Ports of Call) I showed the book to beginning Starfinder DM's and the first thing they mentioned "Sadly no maps of important locations within each Ports to inspire them, just maps of the ports..." on a personal note... It's not a book I would advice (my) players to buy unless you like lore..

@@victordevillers3899 I am going to make on of the ports my players home base for a few levels until their shenanigans get them ran off. Knowing them they will most likely go from port to port causing chaos. Lol!

Looking to your thoughts on Starfinder 2e. I like your vids because a LOT of the stuff you talk about, especially when it comes to the gods, is still applicable to me. Abadar and Pharasma are still around after all. Like, I love LOVE the archaic trait. I want to play a duel handaxe barbarian in Starfinder.

Great review! (I particularly enjoyed the viewpoints of our two tour guides 😁) It was great to see that Outpost Zed has been revisited after appearing in the Against the Aeon Throne AP The variety of the different locations is excellent as is the overhead maps. My only concern is how much drift crisis stuff is part of the book. I prefer my Starfinder to take place before this change. Hopefully it's just some text that can be ignored.

I believe the only part that was really important to the Crash was that the drift lanes themselves came about post crash, but the actual lore of the game should be good, and you could even just bend the lore a bit and add drift lanes into a game pre crash anyway if you want to.

I already got a lot of use out of this one. I even framed the poster that came with the book. (note: the poster is quite big. I needed a 31"x21" frame.) Golarion World is also the first time in a long while that I laughed out loud from reading a game book

Giants seem REALLY undertuned on their stats. They're 15-20 feet tall and yet they only get a +2 STR and CON bonus? I highly advise anyone and everyone with giant PC options to bump those up to +$s and dex to -4. It just doesn't make physical sense that a giant, even a weak one, is only as strong as a much smaller vesk.

I feel that would break the game with how they have balanced things. I could see a single +4 and a -2 being used though.

@@TheMapleTable Yeah at least a +4 strength. It's weird that the one race who most has the square cube law on their side is only as strong as an Orc less than half their size.

@@TheMapleTable Daniel, one of my players plays a Space Goblin +4 Dex,-2 Cha and it doesn't break the balance although Dex is more important in most campaign and campaign settings up and until level 20 a +4 Str, +2 Con, -4 Dex Nerves the player in combat. They trade melee combat prowess for AC and being more easily to hit in ranged and melee combat. You don't want to get hit as weapons increase in Damage over level. You may have enormous strength but the the enemies sniper, Mystic, Technomancer will take you down more easily We most of the time forget...Beginner stats can't get over 18 as most characters creations start with 10's, add and subtract for race, add point for theme and spent 10 points. This creates a balanced game The quick picks creates a balanced game.. racial stats don't apply to the quick picks. Rolled stats still create a balanced game as starting stats are not likely to go beyond 18 as you want to play a balanced character. You may have enormous strength compared to you fellow players but your dex is nerved and you still need Constitution to stay in combat and Charisma, Wisdom, intelligence for your skills.. Running into combat is far from smart in StarFinder thanks to the low tech smoke sticks, grenades and spells like Fog cloud(lvl2), basically cover and concealment. Melee combat is most likely a last resort. As long as GMs take a +2, and +2/-2 Mental and or +2/-2 Physical stat every alteration the game balances it self.. as strangely enough you want to be play balanced character in Starfinder.. Any Starfinder Game is more MAD compared to D&D but you also get 4x +2 every 5 levels to solve this issue..

Something I've been considering, but don't know if it would be 'game breaking' or not: On the Cooking Downtime, you can get actual Game Play benefits if you do well with it. I've thought about giving those benefits to any player who pays for 'Luxury Accommodations' when they rent a place to stay (but no more than once per week of stay perhaps), and maybe increasing the cost of such to compensate for this 'boost', but not certain by how much. Also, can't wait for 'Starfinder Enhanced', for the exact reason of reworked Starship Construction/Combat rules. However, this kind of feels like "Pathfinder Unchained" for Starfinder, and that book was the start of "The End" for 1st Edition Pathfinder. Hope this doesn't mean the end of 1st Ed. Starfinder (or Starfinder overall 😬), I still like the system as is (which should be even better with the Enhanced adjustments, no need for a whole new edition yet).

I think enhanced isn't the "end" of starfinder but more of a rewrite to fully remove it from the OGL and streamline some of the rules.

They really called a giant subspecies "Slag". They really did not know that that is an insult word in British English? I mean, I am not offended. As "Slag" is a byproduct of the smelting process of metals. Still, if the Diobot Slag could not keep his name, and it was changed to "Snarl". Then, Slag Giants shall be now called "Snarl Giants" AHAHAHAHAH!
