That ending is the canon ending in my eyes especially if you manage to make V and Johnny become friends. It just doesn't make sense for V to take back control of his body knowing he'll die and take Johnny with him in six months. It's much more tragic if he lets Johnny have his body. Johnny gets a second chance at life and do things differently, it's not a happy ending, but it's the happiest ending either character will get. I took that quote as him saying ''the life I lead from this day forward is for V''.
@ChadVulpes2 жыл бұрын
"Johnny Silverhand, relentless rocker boy who never gives up!" "V. First among suckers." That was a really well-executed lighthearted moment for such a heavy scene. It's a tough emotion to describe. Great game.
@joeldelgado1376 Жыл бұрын
I agree, it was a moment to softly cope with the existentialism. Johnny knowing the results of his life amounted to nothing yet at the beginning he was so adamant to tell you, "Johnny Silverhand died a fucking legend," meant something to him. He strongly believed he mattered. All that egotistical, uptune, and pretending to know more than he actually didn't. A front that broke apart in that one scene. The lighthearted moment was a feeling of comfort that he just needed a little to feel good even though he felt like crap.
@ChadVulpes Жыл бұрын
@@joeldelgado1376 I think Johnny was joyful in that scene because he realized that not all is yet lost. Note that in order to hear this dialogue, V has to say that Johnny used V and can’t trust him at all. Then you have to say that you’ll give him the last second chance. As for why he was sad, he said it: he thought there would at least be a marker after him. But then, that doesn’t exclude what you said. Nice write up.

For me, the conversation at Silverhands' grave was the pinnacle of the game's story, atmosphere, character, and overall just my favorite scene. Johnny, up until this point, has been nothing but a pompous, arrogant, self-consumed rockerboy rebel, blinded by rage for corporations and himself, but by Chippin' In he's matured from an anarchist rockstar to a man keenly aware he lost everything well before his death, hoping to atone while unintentionally murdering the one friend he's ever had. depends on your point of view sure V dies and the city won but its how you die that matters do you die chained and shackled to a corporation that doesn't give 2 shits about you or do you die surrounded by friends and those that care about you? Or do you die doing something equally legendary sticking your middle finger out and telling the world YOU LIVED? Or do you die to save a comrade's life from cyberspace hell? Do you put it all to rest and leave the world behind? Sometimes its not the ending that matters. Sometimes its the journey that gets you there. From my own viewpoint V was a merc which have very short lifespans hence the name from the club the "afterlife" all legends have short ends and did something to earn it. As V i wasn't willing to risk the lives of those I cared about. Equally i wasn't willing to let johnny risk his own chooms lives instead of biting the bullet i went the way of a legend storming hell itself and walked away. As painful as endings go the journey to being a legend means sacrifice. In other versions of my previous playthroughs you can also go through it and realize that being a legend aint all that its cracked up to be and walk away still a legend but die surrounded by those who actually give a shit about you. The ambiguity is what makes it an interesting story. Tragedy is sadly a genre that isnt popular with people now everybody wants sunshine and daisies happy endings. Sometimes tragedies are what make you realize that sometimes you don't always win.

After completing the game 1st time couple days ago (i reloaded to see a few endings) Ive been in a total malaise of melancholy ever since. Ive read about this phenomena called Post Game Depression that affects many people after they get to the end of a show, book or other medium that had a profound effect on them. Hanging around here in lockdown just discussing the game's events and emotions is what's getting me over it. I'm sure this time next week i'll be blowing up mechs or flying spaceships in another game and feeling great but right now, let's just [Lean on wall] and look out at Night City some more and remember.

This game still fucks me up when I think about it in depth, and I really haven't felt this way about any other game, not that I can think of. Jackie's death left me feeling weird for a couple weeks before I picked the game back up; and even though I got the nomad ending w/Panam romance, it _still_ left me feeling weird for another week. This game is like a 6/10 imho, why is this doing so many things to my mental health ;-;

I felt the exact same way. The realization that none of V’s choices can end up being just fine, happy. Something, someone’s gotta give in every ending. Its soul-crushing but also a beautiful story and I think it feels this way because it nailed all the themes it was going for, which were all pretty heavy. But yea I didn’t wanna say bye to johnny or the story, I wasn’t/am not ready for it to be over. Ready for these expansions next year hopefully though!!

@@TheJuggerClutch Same, very happy to hear they havent lost heart over the negative launch, and that DLCs / expansions are coming. Also this comment confused me at first coz my first name's Mark haha, coincidence. I figured it's been a year since i made the comment above and fancied trying CP77 again, got as far as the soundtrack and thought "nope". Not ready for that yet haha. Such a strange mental effect.

Things that make you feel like this, are far and few between. But, alot of them have to do with death. I guess, its a bittersweet feeling? Sometimes atleast, most times its just pure sadness and acceptance. The ending i got for the game was bittersweet, the ending in edgerunners was pretty much pure sadness. But both hit me with that depression
@Musabre Жыл бұрын
@@WorldKeepsSpinnin I think you're on the money here. It honestly reminds me of the sinking feeling people get not long after losing a family member or a messy breakup. I think overral it's just a reaction to some form of loss, and yeah it is bittersweet alot of the time.

The musical writing of this game is amazing. The way the themes establish, evolve and intertwine is simply amazing.

I just realized it's the same OST as when Johnny visits the graveyard in the Temperance ending. Makes it even more emotional.

Played that part at night, realising how much Nightcity has taken from V and yet he thinks he could beat the system (maybe it was Johnny thoughts). When we are taking the pills it feels like we could leave reality leave Nightcity and we can, but for how long. Good message from the game that we can't always beat our demons, sometimes we have to run away from them so we can realeases ourselves... Maybe, don't know actually. Tripping my balls on acid while listen to this, soooo good :,)

normally when i beat a game, i’m happy, but cyberpunk, damn i never knew what depression was

I don't know if it was supposed to happen but this kept playing after I left the fields and headed towards the lake as per Johnny's request. The soundtrack continuing to play as I drove in my new owned Porce 911 through the entire journey was a really deep experience. I felt down and deep ya know? Relaxed, heavy, humbled, in my thoughts, sad, blah blah. I wouldn't have felt that if this didn't continue to play in the background. Music is powerful when produced well.

all i wanted is the game to have no bugs, just to see people talking about how cyberpunk 2077 plot is soo goddamn good, instead of how broken it is, it's sad that the bugs kinda ruined this experience for such a giant portion of people

This game blew my mind, and I don't know if anything will ever beat Cyberpunk 2077's character writing. I really hope that CDPR goes back on their promise, and make another DLC

Seeing the nothing that was Johnny's final resting place gave him the reality check he needed. He might be justifiably jaded and right about corps and Arasaka, but it doesn't excuse being a toxic cunt to your friends. It's a good life lesson. If you prioritize being right over being nice, you're gonna end up like Johnny did. He got lucky.

This would sound good with the vocals from Never Fade Away, mainly in the guitar part

a nice thought, but the vocals wouldn't have fit into this i reckon. it emphasises on the instruments more and adds to the ambience and the emotions during this scene. the vocals would've been distracting

Except some bugs, cyberpunk 2077 is a masterpiece. I was so sad when Johnny regret about his past life and about what he was doing wrong. In the end of the game I let Johnny keep the body so he can try to live without regrets.
