Thanks for watching guys. Compared to last two videos on the channel this one probably felt a lil bit uninspired. Some irl stuff held me back for some time and once I eventually got back to work- the motivation just wasn't really there anymore. At some point I realized I wasn't happy with how this project was turning out but unfortunately I was in too deep and had to just stick with it, which honestly just made everything worse in terms of motivation. I hope I can figure out a way to post more consistantly and actually get this channel off the ground but till then- it's back to the drawing board.

As for the phone call conversations, they are basically literally happening in your mind, and your mind goes a lot faster than your mouth goes. Meaning that it's hard to keep up with forming sentences properly, so words are repeated and things like proper punctuation and such rarely is part of it. Basically, your mouth is a filter for your mind, but in a phone call such as that in the show, there is no filter. Your mind wanders as well often during conversation, so that's also a possible reason for the repeated words, almost like a "snap back" to the conversation

I agree that the English Dub is better. Usually the sub is better, but the Dub is way better especially since you can hear the different accents from different characters.

If you genuinely are interested in anime after watching this show, there are definitely some that are always worth watching If you want "one and done" things, such as movies, you can for instance rarely go wrong with anything Miyazaki (Spirited Away, How's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke etc) or something as bombastic as Redline or as thought provoking as Akira or Ghost in the Shell, If you want to watch an actual show, I will always stand by Attack on Titan as a prime choice because of how strong it hooks you in from the start, and how it constantly adds new questions and delivers answers in very satisfying ways, some questions even being answered 3 seasons later It is a longer running show, obviously, but it is a finite one, unlike something like Naruto or One Piece which seemingly seems to just go on forever And if you're not certain, at least watch the show until episode 5. You'll understand from there on ^^

Honestly, and I'm saying this as someone that prefers DUB but SUB tends to be better in anime. This is just one of the few shows they put a huge amount of effort into the DUB. But really, I would say watch what you want to watch. I do think this series could have used like 4 more episodes to flush out characters but I'm guessing there was budget to consider. Most series are at least 12 a season regardless.

For folks asking: the phone calls are distorted because the soft translating the language in their heads can only keep up so well when it sends. It's shorthand folks are used to like a local dialect or slang.

I agree with almost every point you've made. The only thing I can disagree with is: "not having enough time dedicated to fleshing out the relationships between each of the characters" as a con lol. You're right in that it would have made those painful moments have a little more punch, but IMO: it was short, easy to watch, and made me get into the game that much quicker.

@@Danganraptor quite a lot, like, everything that makes anime anime. I already have trouble watching asian movies and series because their exagerated and weird acting makes me laugh/cringe and takes me out of the immersion, now imagine that but drawn and I feel stupid and weird for watching it

I think the phone calls sound stilted because they were onscreen transcripts were synced to the original japanese dialogue. When the English voiceovers recorded their lines, they needed to match the speed of the those transcripts.

Personally after watching, i put Edgerunners in the same category as the movies "The Road", "Logan" and a few others... the category of "amazing - never watch again". I just cant handle the feels, plus i will never forgive them for killing Rebecca.

Great video and editing, this as your first anime is rough xD. If you want to try another anime one day i'd recommend death note (not as gory but with a lot twists ) or attack on titan (pretty gory and it has an amazing story and twists)

Yo Pbb! Glad to see you're back! Love your content and I'm happy that you tried watching this show (despite not being a huge anime fan). I hope that you're doing okay and that you will be able to upload more consistently (if that is what you want). Just a random suggestion and maybe you have already watched this movie. But "Puss and Boots: The Last Wish" just came out and it blew me away in how good it was. I would love to hear your thoughts on it. Anyways have a good one!

In general, the sub is usually better. And this sub is not bad, it's quite good. But they went all out for the dub for this one. CDPR didn't put and holds on the budget. The sub was good but it's hard to compete with Giancarlo Esposito. But in general, yeah the sub is usually better.

I'm 3 minutes in and this was made two months ago but some animes are just better in english dub. The ones that come to mind are this obviously, Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, Code Geass, and arguably Death Note. Not very frequent that the dub is better than the sub but this is definitely one of those cases and I don't think it's close.

Another great video, keep it up. I think that the main problem with Edgerunners is its length. Its almost like Edgerunners is just the outline for a great tradgedy story. But it's still an excelent watch regardless. And of course I gotta hit you with an anime rec: Berserk 1997. Its 2x the length of Edgerunners and it has the character depth and bonding I think you might be looking for. Would be interesting to see a "I watched 5 anime for the first time and it was an experience" type video from you.

I can't get into anime cuz of the grunting. I liked this show fine, it was honestly good. But the anime grunts, the eyes closed laughing to themselves, the "dahhhhh!" When experiencing anything not normal.... it's so cringey. I check out immediately when I see it

I hope you never find yourself in a different country where people have different little weird noises they pepper their speech with. We do it in English too, we're just used to it so we tune it out. I always find it funny when those kinds of things bother people.
