There's actually a reason why Sky wasn't developed. We know so little about her because even Viktor knew so little about her, as evidenced by his line when he threw her ashes down the river. We could've been shown more about Sky, but that would detach us from Viktor. He felt guilty, not because he killed someone he cared about, but because he killed someone he SHOULD'VE cared about but knew so little of. He's not guilty because he loved her, he's guilty because he barely knew her.

I swear. This show uses fridging AND MAKES IT GOOD. That should not even possible. For those who do not know: Fridging is a practice in storytelling, where you introduce a character just to kill them off a little later. It is usually considered lazy/cheap writing, because you try to get emotion out of the audience without building anything up beforehand and it barely ever works.
@laconicdraconic697

Exactly, Sky is the exact kind of person Viktor was working to help and he killed her. The real tragedy is that she died for him and before that point she was never even someone he noticed. Heck, Jayce calls her Sky, Viktor doesn't even call her by her first name instead using the much more formal and distant Mrs. Young As well we don't really get scenes with anyone that isn't main cast unless it's in the context of interacting with one of them, think Ximena Talis, Elora, Finn, any of the Chembarons, or the council excluding Heimerdinger so does make sense we don' t see more of her since the show is in 3rd person limited in a way?

@@morantNO1 I think this highlights, that there are no real ironclad rules in storytelling. Every rule is just a guideline, that although exists for a reason, if you understand those reasons, you can replace, circumvent, or even break. While Arcane does fridging, it *also* puts in the work to introduce and build up Sky's character, and her relationship with Victor. Even in her death we get to know her a bit better. And as a result, her death doesn't feel cheap, we've left with a similar feeling of loss as Victor, for a character we wanted to know better, wanted to see develop further. And that's kind of it. For a character's death to mean something, that character also had to mean something. That's the reason _behind_ the rule.

I personally think a lot of people are misinterpreting the scene of skye's death. I think the reason why it matters so much and why Viktor is so devastated after it is not because we now lost Skye. We didnt even know Skye, Viktor didnt really know Skye, the fact that she is now missing literally doesnt matter. BUT what does matter is Viktor is now a murderer. The only thing he always strifed to do was help people and he was so adament on not making any kind of weapons ever. And yet in a moment of weakness he ends up killing somebody entirely innocent. I think that is literally the worst thing that couldve happened to Viktor. Way worse than if for instance Jayce got shot and died in the undercity. All he wanted is to leave a mark in the world before he goes out but now he betrayed everything he worked for and its enough to make him want to end his life right then and there.

My god, this show was a fucking masterpiece. The animations, music, story. The scene with Powders "mistake" as she begs for forgivness broke me. This is gonna sound a bit too serious but I wanna explain how and why it affected me so much, I've never seen a media, show, game or movie that has ever portrayed the panic I feel when I have my panic attacks, the sheer panic she shows, the constant begging and it just breaking her mind in an uncontrollable mess, her throwing herself into the arms of the first one who show any sort of comfort, hit me so hard.

XD Seriously, some solid explanation and discussion, all with slick editing, pretty funny jokes, and the format with you standing and reacting to footage all comes off as both different from other channels - and still natural. Your breakdown of Ekko's fight with Jinx is EXACTLY how I reacted. I thought it was gonna be cringe at first - then I had to pick up my jaw off the floor. Also you're wrong about Marcus. He's a terrific character. He did terrible things and I think he's spending the entire show trying to make up for them, but it's all for naught because he made a deal with the devil. I think all the appeal of Arcanes visuals lie in the motion. So much thought is given into the way hair moves, the way action speeds up and slows down. If Jinx were a real human, her hair would flop around stupidly, but with the help of some artistic vision, her hair can flow around the frame and help emphasize Jinx's erratic fighting style.

I have watched Arcane 3 times and it just gets more beautiful. The whole thing is a modern Shakespeare tragedy while being something so fresh and unpredictable.

You perfectly captured everything i've been feeling about Arcane. I held off watching it when it first came out because everyone was telling me to watch (i have contrarian brain). But after i watched it I can't explain how much it captivated me. I immediately rewatched it, i sought out more and more reaction and analysis videos and even ended up watching the LoL trailers too. There is nothing about it that wasn't a masterpiece. The music, the writing, the voice acting and as you put it the animation that made all other studios look like amateurs. The look on Vi's face after she slaps Powder is so raw and real it seared itself into my mind. All the characters feel alive both in terms of writing and animation. It is truly remarkable. Thanks for giving me one more crumb to hoover up while waiting for S2. Also i feel like i'd trade a piece of my soul to see Vi and Cait finally kiss. Those maniacs have to deliver. Unless they find some way to use it to hurt us again...

31:14 I actually had to go back two minutes to rewatch everything that you were saying because it was at this moment that I realized Arcane had sucked me in and captivated me, exactly like you were saying and I got completely lost in the moment.

I also just wanna say, you actually did a really great job of putting this together. Maybe you didn't add any new insight...but you definitely added a unique presentation, and it was enjoyable that you did so. Good job.

on a side note, a youtuber once said the worst part about league of legends IS league of legends. you're right not to download the the main game. everything else around it (music, lore, series, other games, cinematics) are absolute top tier

You don't need to play league but you could read some stories from this universe or watch the cinematics because they are amazing

When shows hit me hard, I struggle to watch them again. It was such an emotional ride that I don’t want to watch the heartbreaking scenes again. I absolutely love the show because I love shows that hit me hard like that. The ones that stick with me years after I’ve seen them. I rewatch clips of it all the time tho. It’s still with me.

Whenever she feels more like powder or whenever she yearns for the past her eyes go back to the color they were when she was a child which was like a greyish black. Whenever she's jinx whenever she's chaotic, or angry her eyes have that pinkish purple glow or tint to them. So I like that they went from showing us them playing as children to showing a fight with real consequence. And for a moment echo saw powder the same way Vi saw powder

I didn't care about league or runeterra in the SLIGHTEST before I watched arcane But after watching (and re-watching) the show, I'm now excited for more content about the world and the lore (although I refuse to play League, I've seen what it's done to my sister) I'm waiting for project L and the MMO
