Yes! I got the original box set in the summer of '88 just before my senior year of high school and the Friday Night Firefight book in particular was revolutionary. The father of the gal I was dating at the time was a senior Special Agent for an alphabet agency and I remember he asked what I was reading. I showed him the introduction, and he agreed with the statistical comments about firefights being messy, chaotic and close-quarters. I could elaborate further, but I'll just say THANKS, that I STILL play the pen & paper game, and agree that seeing this franchise still going places with Mike - is phenomenal.

Mike Pondsmith is about to make millions, all his hard work is paying off. Can't thank Mike and CDPR enough for bringing this game to life. FINALLY SOMETHING FRESH IN THE VIDEO GAME INDUSTRY. I know this is an old post but the passion and dedication of Mr. Pondsmith are encouraging. I love Cyberpunk and the 80s movies that had it in it, however, I was more into fantasy as a kid but now I cant get enough and I plan on getting a copy for me for my wife since she knew about this game because Witcher 3 is her favorite game. I have never been this excited about a game since Star Wars The Old Republic when it first came out and I am more excited about this game. I pray that Mr. Pondsmith is involved in all Cyberpunk iterations, DLCs, expansions and all further games in this world. I get obsessed with things this is my new Zombies.

(46:52): [start of answer] (48:22) ...but you know we want to warn people of what happens if you take it for granted or you give certain people too much power and you don't look out for yourself and you don't take it personally. When you go "yeah, I don't think I'll vote because what does it matter" . . . it matters! Because you hand power to people and they may not be the people you like. Politics aside, you hold power, you hold capability because that is what allows you to determine your own damn future. Hand it to someone else you get a "cyberpunk future". Don't do that guys. Because it's for real. (49:16) ...see the problem with old science fiction (I'm a big fan of it) is that it always posits that there's going to be fairly enlightened people who want things to come out right. When they invent a big computer they're going to use it to help mankind. Instead of, "I'm going to track all of you bastards and I'm going to have files on you and I can make you do anything I want". Well, history shows us that there's more often that guy than a guy who says, "hey let me help all of you". It's a rarity. So what Cyberpunk does is says that technology, power can be put together and be a very very terrifying force but also you can grab your own power through technology, knowledge, and banding together.

Many of my friends (original CP players all the way back to 2013 & 2020) were hoping for that same super cool background and feel that the original dystopian corporate haunted cyberpunk future provided instead of a more post-apocalyptic RIFTs like setting. But I'll give it a try...

this dude is cool. I got into cyberpunk (the genre) from watching fifth element, and the anime ghost in the shell. I just like the punk, meet future retro-ism and the transcendence of humanity that question its own humanity when people start getting cybernetic parts from prosthetic to full cybernetic shells with brain cases. I see a lot of that in cyberpunk 2077, and really wished i could get into cyberpunk 2020 but where i live, and used to live gaming, table top gaming is not popular so looking for players is hard. i also love the political intrigue of the genre, and the game has.

Are you aware there are people selling copies of Night City for 4,500$ on Amazon/Abe/etc? (also somehow there is a distinction between a mass market paperback version of this book and a non-mass market version?). I was fortunate to find a copy not in that range, but it seems a bit strange. Is this book really that uncommon today? I def prefer books to pdfs, and hope to get some from your Talsorian store before they're all gone. Makes me wonder if you already released the virus... kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5uzdmqcmpmLisk Consider Underground Resistance for the Cyberpunk 2077 Soundtrack contribution, since you mentioned how much you love Detroit. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underground_Resistance_(band) Mad Mike and Maximum Mike, coincidence? Cyberpunk is what anarchists want. Then again I see cyberpunk as a utopian society not a dystopian one. I would live in it. Then again the Utopian ideal society in my mind is one with a lot of choices, a lot of freedom including the freedom to disagree and argue with the government that's an important freedom, and a document like the constitution which limits the power the federal government has. (Whatever is not granted in the constitution is decided upon by the States or the voting citizens, oh and a society that argues with each other. In my mind the world we live in today is my Utopian society.
