You have the BEST knitting videos on youtube, especially for the visual learner - perfect, clear images, clean background, good pacing, without a bunch of confusing voiceover. The music helps me stay calm and not get frustrated when I'm trying to copy your moves. May I request that you do a video showing how to purl using the continental method? Not seeing that in the lineup and lost when I try to purl with it.

I learned to knit when I was six years old thanks to my grandmother and I promptly forgot how to do it. I'd been meaning to pick it back up for years, but figured I'd have to take a class and I never had the time. Thank-you so much for these videos! I don't knit, but I do crochet... Get a yarn needle or crochet hook and just weave the ends in. At least that's how I do it, but I've made up a lot of stuff as I go! And to the maker of this post, this is such a great video and I can't wait to get started! You really do make it look easy.

I keep messing up when trying to do this stitch. The video sure does help. I had been doing it all wrong.

The beginning of the video started with the purl stitch being demonstrated on a piece that had already been started. The stockinette stitch (as noted in the video) is made by knitting one row, purl the next row, knit the next row. That's what that example is showing - one of the uses for the purl stitch.

I just got some 'big and easy' wool and some 15mm needles... (the shop I got my regular wool from stopped stocking it...) to make a scarf. It's K1 P1 alternate, so that'll be interesting. I didn't know how to purl, this was very useful, thanks :)

I usually use the other way of stitching and my mom uses this way. One time she tried to finish this scarf I was knitting. Parts of the scarf is this way and some parts are the regular way. Haha XD

Yep. Basically, just keep repeating the stitches. :) A purl stitch basically is a backwards knit stitch. I know it sounds confusing but once you get it, the knit and purl stitches will give you unlimited design options. What is confusing you the most about the video? Perhaps I can come up with another way of showing how to do it.

hey, i'm just wondering if you have to slip the first knot when knitting, i've heard some people tell me to slip the first knot and others telling me not to cause it's 'weird' , i'm just totally confused...

I need your expert advice! I am making a scarf. The pattern is row 1: k k k p p p etc. then row 2 p k p k etc Every time I switch from knit to purl I mess up. I double the amount of loops on the stick. Can you help me??? PLEASE HELP!
