what about cissp and cism certifications for the project manager? are they also beneficial or are they too technical and more for subject matter experts?
@CyberLifeTV Жыл бұрын
Not usually for a project manager and you need a minimum amount of cybersecurity experience to actually hold those certifications. For a project manager, the PMP and its associate level one are the popular ones companies ask for. If you absolutely wanted to get a cybersecurity certification, then something basic like Security+ is ok to get.

Thank you so much for this great video! Easy digestible info and to the point. I have a question though, I am up for a Cyber Security PMO interview and I was wondering whether or not I need to have some level of knowledge in regards to Cyber Security? Much appreciated.

Not usually because project management skills are the same no matter the company's area of focus. That being said, it would be good for you to research what area of cybersecurity the company operates in, so you can learn some of the terminology. That will help you communicate better with the teams in the company and clients.

I assume you have to have some level of cybersecurity certifications to be a cybersecurity project manger such as Security+ or CySA+? Also, some industries prefer you have an MBA for an IT project manager role. Is cybersecurity the same or is a bachelor's degree and a PM specific certification good enough?

Yeah you want certs and proven comprehension of the specific field you want to manage + the CompTIA Project+ (specifically certifies you for Security project management)

How to get started with pm job training / start with Microsoft pm course. Then what? Loved your video. Are there any companies you like that hire entry level PM for cyber sec???
@CyberLifeTV9 ай бұрын
I don't know any companies that hire entry level PM off the top of my head, but look at the company sponsor lists for the larger cybersecurity conferences (like Black Hat USA or RSA). And look specifically at the smaller startups. Some of them will have project management roles open and they are usually more willing to work with more entry level people. Something to keep in mind on project management is that ALL of us have project management skills from life. Focus on transferable skills for your resume and LinkedIn. You can probably find low cost project management training over on Udemy and Google might also have a certificate program for project management. I can't remember if that's one of the ones they offer.
