I enjoy MyQ over homelink because it knows the status of the garage door rather than homelink just sending a command no matter if the door is open or closed. Plus when they started offering MyQ, MyQ were giving the white opening units away for free which could bring support to any garage door opening in the last 20+ years from that brand. Not sure if they still are providing that deal.

I’ll take simple and free over a subscription any day. For most cases, you open your gate/garage door right in front of it. Also, my gate was too far to support myQ because it can’t get wifi

Just got our Cyberbeast a few days ago. It is our 3rd Tesla. The first 2 S models had myQ free and easy. Pay 6 figures for this Truk and now I have to pay for MyQ !!!!! Gonna put a damper on my love of tesla for sure.

For $30 you can buy the module that connect almost any garage door opener. It allows you to open and close your garage from anywhere. Not sure about the Tesla infotainment system but I don’t pay an annual fee to use the iPhone app.

You still have to pay the fee.

I expect Tesla to eventually offer Homelink module. MyQ doesn’t control gates or non-MyQ garages. There is mention of Homelink hardware status of installed/uninstalled in the Cybertruck Service Center Menu. Waiting for them to enable feature. For the big picture, I hope they also open the garage/gate button through an api to more than MyQ so Ratgo and other solutions could be used. The garage opener accessed through Tesla screen is much more secure than leaving a physical garage opener in your vehicle if the car is broken into in a driveway. A Tesla key is needed to turn on the vehicle screen and access the garage button.

This is a BIG miss on the Cybertruck IMO. I love the Homelink in my 3 and Y.

I 100% agree, I love my Cybertruck BUT I would have postponed my purchase if I had known that it did not have Homelink AND Full Self Driving and Lane Centering...I thought TESLA was a technology company...come on ELON, stay off of Twitter and fix this great EXPENSIVE vehicle!!!

My Q and no homelink is a major disappointment. Our neighborhood gate isn't on wifi. My model 3 has the auto open based homelink on GPS. Love that.

You are not wrong. The garage link should be included like in my 2019 MS. I used the MyQ for the free month, I am not renewing it. I am using a remote now for the cost of a battery. Come on Tesla!!

I prefer a homelink module because it doesn't even require a phone or internet connection. But it's good to have both since myQ also gives a status or can be done from long distances. But I seldom use myQ and always like my homelink. Homelink will work in places where there is no internet, and when a person only has a key fob without a phone. Tesla should continue to support a homelink module in all their vehicles, and I'd gladly pay the $300 dollars extra or so.

I got Model Y I must buy a module from Tesla and Tech will coming to install and set up garage opener for me. Cost $350
@brad75715 ай бұрын
It's actually a good deal IMO. Instead of paying once for Homelink per car - you can buy a lifetime of myQ for less than one homelink (one vehicle). I thought the same - but it's actually much better than homelink too - myQ knows if the door is up or down - so there are no accidents or open doors. I can see wh they switched - I have 2 cars with homelink and two with myQ.

MyQ also relies on internet access to work, so if your house has poor wifi and LTE then you're out of luck.

Is there an unused connector in the frunk you could plug into a homelink module?

I remember it cost close to $150 on the Tesla site for Model Y and it includes installation. I am sure it's similar for CT. Tesla has figured out a way to save pennies so they'll continue doing it.

I like when the chip is built into the car BUT it is definitely not worth $300 to not have to lift your hand to touch your sun visor where an old school fob would be

Model 3 had Homelink in its first 1-2 years, but they stopped including it in mid 2019 for Model 3 and altogether for any new car at all since I think 2021

Best part is no part, especially when it's ~50 year old RF tech! My Q uses standard SaSS network methodologies to monitor and control your garage door any where you have Internet. So it uses the cars WiFi or Cellular LTE TCIP/IP connection to communicate. Where Homelink uses old RF tech. Basically, the same thing that your manual garage door opener uses to open the door. Some models even have to have some one install the RF module into the Tesla after purchase.

i think you spoke to soon on your video because i as well got off the phone with customer support. Cybertruck will not work with any myq products, Garage and or gate openers. The Model 3 will work with Garage but not gate openers. why does Tesla offer to sell us the service when we program the myq and then nothing works Boggles my mind
@KaceyGreen5 ай бұрын
That's disappointing, I went with the RATGDO because even with the subscription they removed MyQ from my home controller.
@brentmsdn5 ай бұрын
I paid for the MyQ and it's not 100% reliable. Sometimes it takes 15-30 seconds longer to connect. Long enough were reach for the standard opener. The delay probably only happens 1 out of 8 times. But how annoying!

Why not go with a much better method and use RATGDO. Hands down 1000x better than the MyQ garbage. When used in conjunction with HomeAssistant + Teslamate, you have so much more control, and it's all local not being cloud dependent so much faster and private. I had MyQ and prior to the API being pulled from HA and it was decent, but not now. Tailwind garage would be a close second to the RATGDO.
