I really don't think they erased his memory. What happened with Angie is that he realized he could never satisfy a woman again in his new form so he got angry and violent.

@Kas58223 to this day I'm very uneasy on the fact that Faxx brutally murdered him. He was in massive fear before she turned off life support. Imagine if you "died" then woke up in a glass jar while surgeons were showing you the remains of your body and face. Then you end up in a cyborg body. Its a nightmare IMO. I don't blame why he went all postal on everyone. Plus he was most likely needing a Nuke fix of course.

My dad got a bootlegged version of this movie in the 90s, when I was about 12 years old and I was forbidden to watch it. One day while he was at work, I sneaked the copy out of his room and watched it by myself, and I swear I wasn't able to sleep for a long time after because RoboCain's virtual face and the sound it made used to freak me the hell out. I remember one time not long after, we were walking past some old buildings and one of them looked like the industrial garage where RoboCain attacks the Mayor and his aides. It freaked me out so much that I had to hold my mother's hand walking past because I thought RoboCain was waiting inside for me...

After so many years I still have nightmares about RoboCain. I saw RoboCop 2 at the cinema here in Brazil, and the scene with the chest opening of the nuke addicted policeman was not censored. I saw for 3 seconds the camera over the stretcher showing his chest open showing the internal organs. I thought at the time that it was a montage of the face of the actor who played Duffy with a real body in an autopsy.

It's actually interesting you picked up on that and there is a psychological reason why they purposefully made it so. In both Robocop and Terminator we see robots/cyborgs that are essentially mute. The T-800 only talks when it looks human. When it is just an endoskeleton it doesn't. Now we know from Terminator source material that endoskeletons can talk. The reason is quite simple why we never see this in Terminator and with Robocop. They make these robots that look scary and their non communication psychologically shows us that these entities cannot be reasoned with. For humans communication is a way to show emotions such as being scared, or whatever emotion we feel at the time. If an impending threat is moving toward you and is communicating with you it shows willingness to come to agreement, maybe even de-escalation of said threat. By being mute all pretence at finding common ground is lost and all we pick up from them is intent. All bargaining is off the table. Pure rage, animal instinct, purpose is what drives the threat. This makes the Cain or a T-800 come off as even scarier. By their actions and unwillingness to communicate we are instinctively aware that these entities mean harm and will stop at nothing to achieve it. Single minded focus. So I believe that when the creative teams of Robocop designed Cain's robot form...they purposefully wanted him to be mute so threatening intent was clear and not knowing what he is thinking beyond except in a few scenes adds an even higher level of tension and unease.

I think what she was trying to get at was that the conditions that created RoboCop were practically rare/once in a million find (family man, sense of duty, strong will/morals, etc...) and could not be replicated as shown by the RoboCop 2 program failed attempts. Her method was different by making it a deliberate choice that would be more available subjects that could be but used to serve the same end goal purpose; a person that wouldn't go instantly crazy or self terminate. Her plan was to have someone who had an intense desire and will to exist but also needed to be about to be controlled by OCP. What better option than a drug addicted cult leader. Sure they would be playing with evil in selecting Cain but they hoped to control him and put him on a short leash with using his Nuke addiction as a reward/punishment system for him to comply and follow orders along with the remote switch. Needless to say his violent tendencies and quick action in exploiting OCP's moment of distraction during the demonstration to be free of their directives that lead to that rampage before being taken out by RoboCop

9:07 There was been a persistent rumor of a deleted scene that Cain found out Angie has been cheating on him with Hob and that's why he lashed out at her. Given the age difference between Angie and Hob (despite being an R rated movie from the outset) it probably never made it past the storyboard phase. It was not in the official Marvel Comics adaptation of the film, nor was it in 2003's Frank Miller's Robocop which was a comic adaptation of Miller's original script that was deemed "unfilmable" by the director. Personally I think this works as a means of revenge that even within his most trusted circle, he was betrayed by the people closest to him, kind of a Machiavellian revenge of sorts

Rbocop 2 (RoboCain's official name) was supposed to be a bigger, badder robot. I see Cain as a way to bridge the gap between Robocop and ED-209, it's a very heavily armored and armed cyborg that can handle military style threats, but in a much smaller package (kinda) to be deployed in the urban pacification the movies eluded to for OCP. ED-209 was supposed to be sold to the military while Robocop was the "accident" due to ED-209's failure at the board meeting and during its deployment in old Detroit. Robocop was never meant to be built until ED-209 shot up Mr. Kenny. Robocop was essentially deemed a failure because they could not control him, but Cain could be controlled as long as they had a supply of Nuke to keep him sated. Robocain was a melding of Robocop and ED-209 with some form of control.

Cain likely had killed Angie because of losing pleasures of flesh he had. Not just sex, but other things as well, Cain could never experience things like drinking a cold one, strong booze and it's strong taste, taking shots, sensation of injecting Nuke or other substances in his body, or even smell left by the gun usage, the sensation of warmth, all of it was gone for him. Saying that Cain only killed Angie because he couldn't have sex sounds more like a meme than anything else.

2:22 You know when a villain is scary when their 3D animation, which many would accuse of being BAD, actually makes everything much darker and scarier! Look at this guys! His face looks like he's coming from another dimension into ours, but distorted, with more shadows around, the background a complete void, aka DARKNESS that represents the heart of this criminal, now RoboCaine. It's bizarrely good that 3D technology from the 90s provides a figure with sinister expressions that could NEVER be done with today's ultra realistic 3D models. In fact, this 3D from the 90s with animations up to the 2000s are the only ones that convey the face of horror in a convincing way!

I saw this movie in theaters at the age of eight and thought what she did was a terrible idea.

She wanted to prove that you need unusually strong mind to go through conversion process. Murphy was incorruptible and with massive sense of duty and service and he survived and didn't go crazy. Her hypothesis was correct about Cain having that unusually strong mind. Why RoboCop 2 barely had any safety measures beyond Cain's rampant nuke-addiction is just a case of OCP being full of idiots.

Anyone just realized that in the first movie we noticed that robocop digests. liquid similar to baby food. But in the second film, robocop 2 organics require nuke. And they create a chamber port for him to digest it?
@omegarugal9283

is meant to nourish the brain by inyecting it into his miniature circulatory system, inyecting nuke into it works the same way but he get a million doses in a single canister

oh and as for robocop s case, they say he has a "rudimentary digestive system" but i dont think a stomach is part of it, the paste or baby food is more like a mix of aminoacids and other nutrients he can absorb, maybe a small part of small intestine. enteric mixes are given to people who can not digest food normally, must be the same thing, it absorbes in the small intestine with no need for digestion and leaves little to no residue

@@omegarugal9283 there's what seems to be a hose port that looks like you can plug in a tube probably used for the past to pump through the sysyem on the bottom right part of the front silver chest I always thought it went through.

Supposedly, Robo-Cop was based on the Manga & Anime 8-Man! The exception being that in 8-Man, a total life entity transfer took place. That is, 8-Man contained no organic components.

Something like Nuke could be coming. It's so good, ppl wound their necks like that's a badge of honor. It's so addictive, ppl memorize where their neck veins are so they can get a fix without looking. It never made sense. They should have just asked drug addicts to imagine a new drug for the movie.
